Los Angelas pastor arrested for sexually assaulting more than 20 women

NORWALK ( — An associate pastor at a Norwalk church was being held on $2 million bail Thursday after he was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting female parishioners, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

Jorge Juan Castro, 53, was arrested Sept. 13 on six felony charges of rape, oral copulation and penetration by a foreign object.

Castro, who works as an associate pastor and counselor at Las Buenas Nuevas Church in Norwalk, is accused of sexually assaulting more than 20 women, between the ages of 18 and 39, from Oct. 2004 to Sept. 2012, officials said.

“During that counseling session, he would perform certain acts with them in the name of God,” Sgt. Al Garcia told KNX 1070. The acts took place both at the church, and at the victims’ homes, he added.

Many of the victims were Spanish-speaking undocumented immigrants who detectives believe Castro preyed upon due to their vulnerability.
“He did this by invoking fear by threatening to tell the victims if they reported him he would have the victims deported, while additionally threatening to expose the victims to public embarrassment and ridicule,” Sgt. Al Garcias said in a statement.
Authorities became aware of the crimes after numerous victims told a third party about the alleged assaults.

Castro, of Norwalk, is also an associate pastor at a church in Riverside County, however, there were no known victims there.

Anyone with information, as well as possible victims, should contact the LASD’s Special Victims Bureau detectives at (877)710-5273. Investigators will not ask victims about their legal status.

Colorado pastor sexually assaulted teen girl for 7 years

BOULDER, Colo. — A youth pastor at Vinelife Church in unincorporated Boulder County was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

According to Boulder police Jason Roberson met his teenage victim while working at the church.

His neighbors in Firestone were shocked by the arrest.

“I’m devastated, I can’t imagine,” said Mike, a neighbor of Jason Roberson.

Neighbors said Jason Roberson, lived at his Firestone home with his wife and two daughters for nearly 10-years.

They described the 35-year-old youth pastor as friendly and a good person.

“They’re an awesome family,” said Maryann Sigala, Roberson’s neighbor

Boulder Police say Roberson is facing sexual assault charges for having a relationship with a 15-year-old girl that continued for seven years. The now, 23-year-old told police that Roberson touched her inappropriately and watched her undress by spying on her outside her home in Boulder.

“I have all the trust in the world with Jason, let’s just put it that way. I never thought this manner would come about,” said Mike.

Police say Roberson was a close friend of the victim’s family and they say he allegedly admitted to the relationship when confronted by the victim and family friends.

But, neighbors are questioning the charges.

“You wonder if that is the truth or not. There’s two sides to the story,” Mike said.

Video on Roberson’s YouTube page shows what neighbors say is Roberson playing guitar with his daughter, who is a freshman in high school.

Neighbors said they trusted Roberson around their kids and that he never once acted inappropriately.

“I don’t see that happening just because I have older daughters too and he was really kind…and I just don’t see that,” said Sigala.

Roberson turned himself into Boulder police on Wednesday.

Investigators said the victim is just now pressing charges because she felt uncomfortable until now disclosing the relationship to others.

Ghana pastor arrested for raping 22 year old woman

A 34-year old head pastor of the Saviour Church of Ghana, Agona Swedru branch, has been arrested by the police for raping a 22-year old girl.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nana Asomah Hinneh, Agona Swedru Divisional Police Commander, made this known to the press at Agona Swedru.

He said Pastor Joseph Bondzie admitted having sexual intercourse with the girl without her consent during police interrogations.

ACP Hinneh said on 28th August 2013, at about 0730 hours, the victim, a member of the church, who was sick, went to the pastor for healing prayers.

He said: “In the course of the prayers the pastor touched the mouth of the girl and all of a sudden she fell floppy”.

ACP Hinneh said the victim woke up in about 15 minutes and saw that her pant was loose and her private part soaked with semen, an indication that the pastor had had sexual intercourse with her.

He said the girl returned home and complained to her auntie and when Pastor Bondzie was confronted by the auntie he admitted the offence.

ACP Hinneh said the pastor sent some elders to plead for forgiveness on his behalf but the auntie reported the matter to Agona Swedru branch of the Domestic Violence and the Victim Support Unit.

He said a medical report from doctors of the Agona Swedru Government Hospital proved that the girl had been raped.
