He urged the court to grant an adjournment to enable him assemble his witnesses and study the case file.

The Counsel to the accused person, Azeez Agbaje, did not object to the adjournment sought by the prosecutor, but prayed the court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms.

Nigerian Church covered up rape of 12 year old girl

An interpreter with the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, identified as Akin Adewale, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

The suspect allegedly committed the crime in his home located at number 6, Shamusideen, Oke-Sokori area of the town when his wife was not at home.

The victim is said to be daughter of a church member of the suspect’s church, and was
residing with the suspect and his wife, alongside their two kids.

After violently raping the 12-year-old, the church leader threatened her and asked her not to tell anyone, the victim’s mother said.

The traumatized girl, defied the threats, ran to the house of her biological parents and while she cried profusely narrated the event to her mother.

The victim’s mother reported to the Ogbe Unit of the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, who arrested the suspect.

Mr. Adewale, a commercial photographer, confessed to the crime and blamed the devil for the act.
In his statement to the OPC, a copy of which was made available to PREMIUM TIMES, the suspect confessed that he used a cloth to cover the victim’s mouth before forcefully raping her.

He confessed that after he had his way, he threatened her and then gave her pain killers.

The mother of the victim, in her statement, said her daughter fled the couple’s home and came to her crying profusely about her nasty and ugly experience.

“My daughter came home crying and telling me she was no more interested in staying with daddy Favour (the suspect). She narrated a shocking revelation that the man covered her mouth with cloth and had sex with her,” she said.

The mother said she reported the case to her husband, who decided that the alleged rapist must be arrested and prosecuted.

The victim has been taken to a private hospital located at Totoro area of the town for medication, while a laboratory investigation was also conducted at a private Diagnosis Laboratory situated along NTA road, Abeokuta.

Church seeks to cover pastor up

lPREMIUM TIMES learnt that officials of the church were frantically making moves to cover up the crime, as emissaries were sent to the victim’s parents and the OPC to appeal to them.

When contacted, the zonal coordinator of the OPC, Akeem Bakenne, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that investigation is still ongoing and the case will be handed over to the police later.
The case was yet to be reported to the police as at the time of this report.

Nigerian Pastor arrested for raping 14 year old girl

An Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday adjourned to May 16, a case of alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl preferred against Pastor Basil Princewill of the Mountain Mover Fire Ministry, Nyanya, Abuja.

Chief Magistrate Ahmed Shaibu adjourned the case after listening to the cross-examination of the mother of the victim, Ngozi Iwuoha, by the defence counsel.

He said the adjournment would enable both parties to bring more witnesses before the court and ordered for witness summons to be served accordingly.

The prosecutor, Samuel Bulus, had at the beginning of the trial requested for a postponement of the proceedings for the day as the accused was already arraigned before a High Court in Abuja for same offence.

This was, however, over-ruled by the magistrate before the continuation of hearing.

Mr. Princewill was arraigned alongside Pauline Okoh, his Church Co-ordinator, for alleged rape, criminal conspiracy, intimidation, impersonation and assault.

The police said Princewill allegedly raped the 14-year-old minor.

Mr. Bulus told the court that sometime in July 2012 the Police Command in the FCT received a transferred case file with a covering letter from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

“We got information that Princewill unlawfully had sexual intercourse in his office with the minor, who is a member of his church,” he said

He said the accused committed the offence under the pretence of carrying out “deliverance” on the victim and got her pregnant.

“When he discovered that the girl was pregnant, he conspired with one of his church coordinators, Pauline Okoh, and took her to Fantanu Head Medical Centre, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, for an abortion,” he said.

The prosecutor said the accused impersonated the victim’s father and aborted the pregnancy without her consent.

“He equally intimidated the victim not to disclose the situation to anybody,’’ he said.

The mother of the girl, Ngozi Iwuoha, said that her daughter refused to tell her anything when she noticed that she was bleeding.

“She insisted that it was her normal menstrual flow.

“I became worried and took her to our church pastor, who is the accused; he asked me to take her home and pray for God’s intervention and divine visitation.

“After enough persuasion, she told me that it was Papa, our church General Overseer that did it to her.

“He asked her to buy a white handkerchief and olive oil and come to his office with them to clean up her dirty foundation.

“She took the oil and handkerchief to his office and he forcibly had sex with her and threatened her with a knife.

“He made her promise never to tell anybody what happened or he would kill her,’’ she said.

Ms. Iwuoha said the accused was an imposter, who was impersonating as a lawyer with LLB qualification, while he was not.

“I took my daughter to the hospital and she was diagnosed with a post-abortion trauma, which led to complications.

“And when I told the accused the result of the test, he reported me to the police for allegedly defaming his character and I was arrested and detained for a day,’’ she said.

A CD player and a flyer of the accused dressed as a lawyer wearing a wig were presented to the court as evidence.

California Pastor: God was in pain when he divorced Israel

This is from the article where the Pastor said women who are abused should not seek divorce. I divided it up into two different posts. Let's first see what the Bible says about Israel:

Jeremiah 3:14- "Return, faithless people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I will choose you--one from a town and two from a clan--and bring you to Zion.

But very strangely, the bible also says this:

Exodus 4:22- "Then say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son,

Now lets read what the Pastor said:

The pastor explained that God understands the pain of a difficult marriage. The nation of Israel in the Bible is depicted as the bride of God, but Scripture also expresses in great detail the pain of God as Israel tries to divorce itself from its spiritual husband.

Through the Bible, people can see that God understands the pain of a hurtful marriage and can offer comfort, strength, perspective and wisdom to those also suffering from such a relationship, the pastor said.

California Pastor: Women should not divorce abusive husbands

Physical abuse by one’s spouse is not a biblical reason for divorce, says a pastor at Saddleback Church in southern California.

Tom Holladay, teaching pastor at the megachurch founded by best-selling author Rick Warren, says the Bible only gives two cases where divorce is acceptable: abandonment and a physical affair.

“I wish there were a third in Scripture having been involved as a pastor with situations of abuse,"Holladay said in an audio clip posted on Saddleback Church’s Web site. "There is something in me that wishes there were a Bible verse that says, 'If they abuse you in this-and-such kind of way, then you have a right to leave them.'"

Physical abuse, he defined, is someone “literally” beating another person up regularly.

"I don't mean they grab you once. I mean they've made a habit of beating you regularly,” he clarified.

Pastor from India arrested for harassing his wife

CHENNAI: A former pastor of a church in Vyasarpadi was arrested on Friday on charges of harassing his wife. The man's father and brother were also arrested and the three were remanded in judicial custody.

Police said A Antony Joseph married Mary, 21, a nurse, two weeks ago after she lodged a police complaint that the pastor had raped her. Last year, Mary visited Joseph's house in Sastri Nagar, Vyasarpadi to take care of his ailing mother. She visited his house a few times later and the two became intimate.

According to Mary, she was pregnant once and aborted the baby at a private hospital in Vyasarpadi with the help of Joseph. Mary claimed in her complaint that she agreed to the abortion only after Joseph promised to marry her. But he dodged her later.

Mary approached the assistant commissioner of police, MKB Nagar, Govi Manoharan and lodged a complaint against Joseph. Her complaint was forwarded to the all women police station in MKB Nagar. Meanwhile, the church where Joseph was a pastor stripped him of the post. Joseph then promised to marry Mary with the permission of his family members.

After the marriage, Mary sought police help saying she was apparently harassed by her husband, father-in-law Augustin and brother-in-law Henry Marcus.

Police called Joseph up for questioning. During the inquiry, police confirmed that she was harassed by her husband and his family.

Following this, MKB Nagar police registered a case and arrested Joseph, his brother and father and slapped charges of harassing a woman against them.

Angry Christian mob attacks woman for dressing inapropriately in Kenya

Kenya is 83% Christian.

A group of men attacked a woman because she was dressed in a mini skirt. The men attacked the woman claiming that she was dressed inappropriately. The woman was spotted walking on the street in Kitengela, a town in Kenya.

The angry mob claimed the dress was too short. They argued with the woman to change into something more appropriate. When the woman ignored their request the men attacked her and undressed her.

According to a witness, the crowd gathered around the woman and forcibly undressed her. Her clothes were torn and thrown away ensuring that she had nothing to cover her body as a punishment for dressing provocatively.

The woman was left on the floor with nothing to cover her body.
A Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident offered the woman a long dress so she could go home.

Oscar Pistorius is a devout Christian!

See the cros? If you can't there's an enlarged picture in the link.
I believe we can label this man an HONOR KILLER. Lets analyze the evidence:

Oscar Leonard Carl Pistorius was born in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa, with fibular hemimelia a congenital absence of the fibula in both legs. The fibula runs between the knee and ankle, beside the tibia. His parents gave in to doctors’ recommendations that his lower legs should be amputated. So, at 11 months his legs were amputated just below the knee. At 13 months he was fitted with prostheses and at 17 months he was walking. He may have had no legs since infancy but Pistorius has never been disabled.

His mother Sheila, a devout Christian, who raised her son Oscar as a Christian, wrote a letter to her son before the operation with a message he could read later.

And now here:

Pistorius spent the weekend in a police cell in Pretoria and was visited by his brother Carl and sister Aimee. A police source told City Press he was frequently in tears and had asked a visiting church minister to pray for him.

South African pastor raped his own niece

THE father of a 14-year-old girl who was allegedly repeatedly raped by her uncle, a pastor, has vowed to do everything he can to make sure the man is arrested.

The 48-year-old pastor has been on the run since the case was opened at the Soshanguve police station about seven weeks ago.

The teen's father said he and the pastor are half-brothers, who share the same father.

The pastor was last seen at a house in Winterveldt, north of Pretoria, by a member of the public a few weeks ago.

"When we went to the house he was not there. We found the house's windows open," the girl's father said.

"By now that man should have been arrested," he added.

He said the teenager went to live with her uncle's family when she was 13, in September last year, to be closer to the church in Soshanguve.

She stayed in an outside room. The pastor allegedly started raping her soon after she arrived.

In December she fell ill and was taken to hospital where the family discovered she was pregnant and had miscarried.

It was after she was discharged from Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in GaRankuwa that the girl told her parents she had allegedly been raped repeatedly by her uncle from the time she started staying with the family until sometime in December.

The pastor is believed to have disappeared from his home shortly after the case was opened. Soshanguve police spokeswoman, Constable Reneilwe Moloisane, said that investigations are continuing.

Wisconsin pastor arrested for running over and killing female pedestrian

A former Boscobel pastor faces tentative homicide charges after hitting a pedestrian while allegedly driving drunk in Sun Prairie Sunday afternoon.
Bruce H. Burnside, 59, of Madison, was arrested on tentative charges of homicide by intoxicated driving after he allegedly hit a female pedestrian at the northbound off ramp of Highway 151 at Windsor Street Sunday at 2:48 p.m. Mary Mengelt, 52, died of her injuries at St. Mary’s Emergency Center in Sun Prairie.
Burnside was pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boscobel in the early 1990’s. He then served 14 years as pastor of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Monona and in 2007 was elected bishop for the South-Central Synod of Wisconsin of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America—overseeing 145 congregations in 13 south-central counties.
According to Sun Prairie police, Mengelt was on a 5-mile run when she was hit crossing the northbound off-ramp. Police talked to Burnside a few minutes later at a nearby convenience store where he had driven. Burnside was tentatively charged with homicide by intoxicated driving and hit-and-run causing death. Police did not release his blood alcohol level.
At the time of the crash, Burnside was on his way to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie, where he was scheduled to preside over a 3 p.m. ceremony in which a theologically trained layperson was to become a ministry associate.
Burnside was well-regarded as a religious leader who addressed public issues in a measured way, from calling for a “season of civility” after labor protests at the state Capitol, to advocating for measures to address gun violence. He recently returned from a mission trip to India where he led a contingent of Madison youth on a trip to a Lutheran synod there.

Ghana Pastor arrested for attempted rape of woman

The Police Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Asante-Mampong have arrested a 34-year old pastor who baited an unsuspecting lady into a hotel room and attempted to rape her.

Pastor Nana Kwabena Boateng, alias “Manasseh”, of the Makers Chapel convinced the victim to follow him to the place under the guise of providing her with spiritual guidance to surmount some life challenges.

He has since been arraigned and remanded into prison custody by the Nsuta Circuit Court.

Police Inspector Lawrence Okoe of the DOVVSU, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the pastor resides at Kwabenya in Accra and travels regularly to Asante-Mampong for evangelism and counseling sessions.

The 22-year old victim attended one of the counseling meetings on May 22 this year, where the accused gave her his phone number and asked her to give him a call later for spiritual direction.

She spoke with Pastor Boateng on phone in the evening of that same day and he directed that she meets him at Tadiem, a popular spot in Asante-Mampong.

There, the accused invited her to join him in his car so that they could go to a quiet place to hold special prayers, which she did.

He drove straight to Hotel Eldorado at Nsuta and led her into one of the rooms.

Police Inspector Okoe said once inside, the pastor locked the door and started fondling her but she fiercely resisted and struggled with him and in the process, her dress got torn.

The attention of the hotel attendants was drawn to the unusual noise from the room and they knocked at the door, which was opened by the pastor.

The accused later went to the lady to apologize and offered her an amount of GH¢50.00 to buy some pain killer.

She formally reported the incident to the police and the pastor was arrested.

The case has been adjourned to June 28.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Zone 2 began investigating Atunde after receiving a petition from Project Alert against him.

Project Alert, a non-governmental organisation, said the petition was prompted by a teacher of the school which the minors attended.

One of the minors (name withheld) had allegedly showed up at school in March with blood dripping down her legs.

When questioned by school officials, the minor claimed that Atunde had had sex with her.
Project Alert programme officer, Tobi Asekun, said, “It was the school that brought the case to us. This is not the first time that we have received complaints against Tunde’s activities.

“Last year, one of his neighbours came to us making the same complaints but no one could take action because we needed his victims to confirm the claim.

“So when this case was brought to our attention, we wrote a petition to Zone 2 command,”
It was learnt that plain-clothes officers from Zone 2 had visited the school and spoken with the minors are aged 13 and 14 years before picking up Atunde from the orphanage which also doubles as his family home.

The orphanage, a large one-storey building housing about 12 rooms, is said to have been functioning since 1996.

Currently about 22 children live at the orphanage, most of whom were male and female minors.
Another 11 orphans were said to be running various programmes in a private University with their expenses being paid by the orphanage.

A total of 79 children are allegedly being cared for by the orphanage, which is registered with the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs.

The Zone’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Balogun, confirmed Atunde’s arrest.

Indian Pastor arrested for illegally keeping two minor girls at his house

JAIPUR: A day after arrestingJacob John, a pastor and owner of 'child care centre' for illegally keeping two girls from north east states at his home, Malviya Nagar police produced him before a local court which sent him to one-day police remand. During the remand, the police are likely to delve further to find out his accomplices and if any more girls are kept in illegal confinement.

On March 24, Malviya Nagar police had found two minor girls of Manipur illegally kept at his home and were rescued. Soon after rescuing the girls, police had registered a case under sections 344 and 370 of the IPC for illegal confinement of the girls. Later, sections 23 and 28 of the Juvenile justice Act were also added.

"Following an investigation, we have arrested him on Monday. We produced him at a local court on Tuesday and asked for a one-day remand which was granted by the court," a senior officer of Malviya Nagar police station said.

Police said the two girls were separate from the 51 girls and boys who were rescued on March 12 by the Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, FXB Suraksha, an NGO, and district administration along with the help of other NGOs from two unregistered care homes in Mansarovar and Jawahar Nagar, allegedly opened by Jacob John.

The Jawahar Nagar and Mansarovar police had arrested Jacob then but he was released on bail.

NGOs have also demanded that the city police depute an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) level officer to investigate all three cases of illegal confinement of girls.
