Michigan pastor and theological professor arrested for spying on a nude woman

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, MI -- A Cornerstone University theological professor and now-resigned pastor is accused of being a "peeping tom," allegedly using a ladder to peer into a woman's bedroom as she had sex.

Jeremy Gordon Grinnell, 40, of the Rockford area, has been charged with two counts of surveilling an unclothed person, a two-year felony.

Grinnell, an assistant professor of systematic theology at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, on Tuesday, Nov. 26, was placed on administrative leave with the university, a university spokesman confirmed.

"We are stunned and saddened by this news," said Bob Sack of Cornerstone.

Grand Rapids Theological Seminary is a division of Cornerstone.

Grinnell on Monday was in Kent County District Court, where he waived a probable cause hearing.
He is free on a $1,000 bond.

Grinnell had been a teaching pastor at Bella Vista Church in the Rockford area, but resigned that position Nov. 17. The resignation was announced in a letter read to parishioners.

Kent County Sheriff's investigators allege that Grinnell, in early November, went to the 37-year-old woman's Cannon Township home.

Prosecutors say he used a ladder, apparently found on the property, to look into the second-floor bedroom window of the woman.

Police say he knew where the woman's bedroom was located and noticed lights on in the room.
"Jeremy obtained a ladder, climbing to the second-floor window, where he observed through the window (two people) in the nude having sex," sheriff's investigators wrote in a affidavit to get a warrant against Grinnell.

"Jeremy admitted that he maintained this position for at least twenty seconds, watching them," detectives wrote.

Grinnell was spotted by the woman's partner, prosecutors say, but managed to quickly descend the ladder and escape.

However, police say he returned to the residence the next night and was confronted outside by the woman's partner.

Police responded to the scene.

He allegedly told police that he was there to pray for the woman, Kent County prosecutors said.
Grinnell declined comment today and his attorney, David Dodge Sr., also declined comment.
Mark Pietscher, lead pastor at Bella Vista Church, said Grinnell had been a teaching pastor at the church since May 2012.

He was a part-time employee of the church and taught three times a month on Sundays.
Pietscher declined to say anything more about the situation.

According to Grinnell's resume, he earned his doctorate in systematic theology at Calvin Theological Seminary in 2011.

He was an adjunct professor at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary from 1999 to 2010, then became a visiting professor before earning status as an assistant professor.

Sack said his employment at the university can be renewed annually.

In court Monday, prosecutors outlined a possible plea offer that would limit any jail time for Grinnell.

The scenarios offered: plead to one count in exchange for sentencing guidelines calling for zero to one month in jail; or plead to both counts with the defense attorney seeking a recommendation for no jail.

Pastor from India arrested for kidnapping and raping a young girl

CHENNAI: Police on Friday arrested a 35-year-old pastor on charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl.

David Inbaraj kidnapped the girl, daughter of a sub-inspector of the Tambaram police, on March 16 and took her to Hosur where they had been staying since.

The pastor, who saw the girl during her visit to a church in Tambaram, later visited her house under the pretext of conducting prayers and developed a relationship, police said. Inbaraj, who was already married with a child, eloped with the girl when she came out of her house on March 16.

Her father who lodged a police complaint learnt that the pastor was also missing from the same day as his wife Sonia lodged a separate complaint to trace him. As efforts to trace the pastor and the girl failed, the sub-inspector of police approached the Madras high court.

Police then swung into action and traced Inbaraj and the girl to a lodge in Hosur. The girl was rescued and the pastor remanded in judicial custody.

Minnesota pastor raped two girls because they were possessed

A "self-proclaimed" pastor in Minnesota has been charged with the rape of two girls.

Jacoby Kindred, 61, is accused of sexually abusing the daughters of his son's girlfriend beginning when they were only six years old. According to a criminal complaint obtained by the Pioneer Press, Kindred, a pastor with One Accord Ministries, told one victim that "the devil was inside her and he could take the demons out of her."

KARE 11 reports that the alleged abuse "involved fondling, oral stimulation, and rape," and took place mostly at Kindred's Maplewood, Minn., home, while the victims, now 14 and 16, stayed over. Kindred is said to have abused the girls for more than a decade.

Police began their investigation in July after the girls' mother said she found out about a letter written by one of her daughters that described sexual acts with Kindred.

Reached for comment by the Pioneer Press on Thursday, Kindred denied the allegations and said that the girls' mother had made them tell "lies" because she was angry with him.

"Anyone can make up anything when you sit there long enough and you rehearse it," Kindred told the newspaper. "All a woman has to do [in Minnesota] is make an accusation, true or false, and the man's going to be in trouble."
Kindred, who spoke with the Pioneer Press by phone, told the paper that he was out of town for a funeral, and would not disclose his location. Police have issued a warrant for his arrest.

Florida Pastor sexually battered 9-year old girl for 3 years

SEFFNER -  William Richardson, volunteer youth minister and choir director for the First Baptist Church of Mango, was arrested and accused of sexually battering a 9-year-old girl during Sunday school at the church.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said the victim told a staff member at her school about the incidents, and deputies were notified on October 22.
During an investigation, they learned that Richardson, 47, sexually molested a girl while she was between the ages of 9-10 years old.  At 11 years old, Richardson on at least one occasion sexually battered her.  Detectives said it may have happened several times over three years.
The incidents reportedly occurred during Sunday school service at the First Baptist Church of Mango at 11619 E. Dr. MLK Blvd in Seffner.
"How can it be going on that long and we not know about it," says Nita Allred, Youth Minitries Director at the church.  "Somebody would have said something, but nobody said anything."
Vest Dickerson, the Pastor's wife of the church says all the congregation can do at this time is pray.

"I have to trust in God to see us through," says Dickerson.
And the parishioners of the church aren't the only ones shocked and confused by the allegations.  William Richardson, Sr. seemed to feel the same way when our Laura Harris called him Thursday morning.
"That's a foolish thing there, more than foolish!  That's terrible," he said on the phone.  "I feel sorry for the child if that's the case."
Allred fought back tears as she apologized this morning at the church.  Hoping parents didn't blame her for what may have happened at the church for the past three years.
"I'm so sorry that this happened!  You trusted the children with me and I'm so sorry. That's all I can say," says Allred.
At this time, detectives are unaware of any additional victims, but fear there may be.  Anyone who may have been victimized by Richardson or has additional knowledge on this incident to contact the Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
Richardson was arrested at his home without incident, and charged with capital sexual battery.
At a first appearance, no bond was issued for Richardson.  He is facing life in prison.

Virginian pastor arrested for sexually assaulting two girls

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Portsmouth detectives arrested a youth minister for indecent liberties by a custodian.

Police arrested Brian M. Norris, 29, at his Chesapeake home Tuesday. Police say the victims were two girls in the youth group Norris oversaw at the church.

Norris has held the role of youth minister at Western Branch Baptist Church for more than six years.

Court documents obtained by say Norris fondled the girls both above and below their clothing. One victim said Norris asked her to engage in sexual intercourse. The girls said all of the inappropriate behavior happened at the church over the course of the last two years.

The church's head pastor, Dr. Walter Black, told the youth group includes members in grades six through 12, many of whom attend Churchland High School. He said the church is reaching out to the school to let them know what has happened. Police encourage other potential victims to come forward with information.

"We want to be Christ-like in our actions toward the accused and his family, yet at the same time, cautious toward our youth and our church family," Black wrote in the statement.

The church is cooperating with the investigation while working to let its congregation know about Norris' arrest. Black said the church learned of the arrest Tuesday night and has placed Norris on administrative leave, pending the investigation. There is a congregational meeting planned for Wednesday night.

"As you can imagine, it's challenging, it's gut-wrenching," Black said. "It brings me to the point of trusting that God will get us through this."

Sources say Norris has been married since 2009. He appeared in court Wednesday and is in the Portsmouth City Jail. Norris declined's request for an interview.

One mother told she will not allow her son to attend youth group meetings anymore.
"You can't even trust the people in the church," said Marie Clark. "That's sad."

Detectives continue to investigate the allegations and ask anyone with information about the case to call the Portsmouth Police Department's Special Victim's Unit at 757-393-8536.

Kenyan pastor arrested for raping woman, sexually assaulting a teen girl

London)The Kenyan preacher (who is an ally to former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga) who claims to have super powers to create babies from mothers without necessary intercourse, Gilbert Deya, has been arrested for sexual offenses.

Mr Deya whose church claims to have more than 35,000 members and once set up a fast growing assembly at the Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, was arrested after investigations were opened that he allegedly inappropriately touched a 14 year old girl. Other charges before this one were three counts of rape and one count of attempted rape against another female church member.

He appeared at Camberwell magistrates court on Friday and will duly appear at the inner London crown court for a preliminary hearing on 8 November.

Deya’s wife is barred from the UK for more than 5 years running to date being confined to Kenya where she was convicted of smuggling children out of the African nation to take and hand to female church members in the UK with the intention of claiming the miracles. Several children were taken by social services after DNA tests proved they were not the kids of the church members and Mrs Deya was convicted in Kenya. Mr Deya himself was due to be deported back to Kenya back in 2007, when he managed to claim asylum and managed to stay in England.

The Deya church’s theology upholds the obsessive laying or sometimes pressing of the hands by the preacher to “transfer” healing powers to the person needing prayer. They are however often performed without the person’s consent and people are also forced into laborious processions which Deya claims will rid them of evil spirits. Another controversy is on the use of so called anointing oil which Deya instructs people to apply onto their bodies for protection from evil spirits.

An uneducated man with no papers of writ, he rarely preaches from the Bible and relies on what he says is the Holy Spirit leading him. At the height of investigations into his miracle baby claims in 2005, Deya began claiming that he had discovered new books which must be regarded as scripture and added to the Bible.

BOULDER, Colo. — A youth pastor at Vinelife Church in unincorporated Boulder County was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

His neighbors in Firestone were shocked by the arrest.

“I’m devastated, I can’t imagine,” said Mike, a neighbor of Jason Roberson.

They described the 35-year-old youth pastor as friendly and a good person.

Boulder Police say Roberson is facing sexual assault charges for having a relationship with a 15-year-old girl that continued for seven years. The now, 23-year-old told police that Roberson touched her inappropriately and watched her undress by spying on her outside her home in Boulder.

“I have all the trust in the world with Jason, let’s just put it that way. I never thought this manner would come about,” said Mike.

Police say Roberson was a close friend of the victim’s family and they say he allegedly admitted to the relationship when confronted by the victim and family friends.

“You wonder if that is the truth or not. There’s two sides to the story,” Mike said.

Neighbors said they trusted Roberson around their kids and that he never once acted inappropriately.

Roberson turned himself into Boulder police on Wednesday.

Investigators said the victim is just now pressing charges because she felt uncomfortable until now disclosing the relationship to others.

New Jersey priest arrested for molesting 14 year old girl

An assistant pastor at two Passaic County churches was arrested today and charged with luring a 14-year-old girl to his residence and trying to kiss her, officials said. The Rev. Jose Lopez, 34, was charged with luring a child, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sexual contact in connection with the January incident, according to Passaic County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Holmsen. Lopez was a parochial vicar, essentially an assistant pastor, at St. Mary's Assumption and St. Nicholas churches in Passaic, said Richard Sokerka, a spokesman for the Diocese of Paterson. A native of Colombia, Lopez was ordained in 2011, Sokerka said. "The diocese is deeply saddened by these charges and offers its prayers to those who have come forward in this matter," Sokerka said in a statement. The 14-year-old girl was a parishioner at St. Mary's, according to Holmsen, who said Lopez lured her to his personal living quarters and began to advise her about some personal issues with which she was struggling. While sitting on a couch together, Lopez allegedly placed her on his lap and kissed her, Holmsen said. She attempted to escape several times, but Lopez pulled the girl back to the couch, Holmsen said. The girl was able to get away only after Lopez fell to the floor, Holmsen said. Sokerka said the diocese notified police after the allegations surfaced, and eventually placed Lopez on administrative leave. He has been living at a "non-parish church facility" away from minors since being placed on leave, Sokerka said. Sokerka said the allegations surfaced June 19, and a call was immediately made to the prosecutor's office. Lopez was placed on leave a short time later. Lopez faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the luring charge. He remains at the Passaic County jail in lieu of $50,000. Advocates called on church officials to look for other children Lopez may have abused. "We beg Paterson’s bishop to personally visit every parish where this priest worked and strongly prod any others who may have seen, suspected or suffered Fr. Lopez’s crimes to call police immediately," said David Clohessy the national director for the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests. "The bishop should shove aside his defense lawyers and public relations professionals and act like a caring shepherd, not a cold-hearted CEO."

Father of one of the girls who noticed the unusual way his daughter was walking when she got home, obtained confession from her, which led to the arrest of the paedophile pastor. Eze who confessed to the act, said he had actually defiled two other minors, both of them 11 years old sometimes this year, but said he was tempted by evil spirit to commit the act. “I am really ashamed of myself particularly as a Pastor. I have been a Pastor at Deeper Life for over six years but I was tempted to defile these girls. They are always visiting me, so this particularly day I defiled both of them,” he said.

The Edo State commissioner of Police, Folusho Adebanjo, expressed disgust at the crime, saying “This defilement thing in the state now is very very disturbing, we will not allow them to go scot free. Pastor arrested for sending pictures of his penis to an 11 year old girl

SHELTON — There are shocking allegations against a local Sunday school teacher who is now under arrest. Kevin Schultz faces felony child porn possession and child exploitation charges after cops say he sent pictures of his genitals to an 11-year-old girl. And what’s worse, the victim knows the suspect – she went to his Mason County church in Shelton. It all started when the young girl’s mother said she found hundreds of text messages and pictures on her daughter’s cell phone – that’s when she called police. Cops say Schultz sent images of his genitals to the young girl and somehow he was able to get her to send him naked pictures of herself, too. Schultz volunteered at the Bethel Assembly of God children’s ministries for about two years. Church officials said they are cooperating fully with police during this investigation. Pastor John Pierce said, “It is our understanding that the incident took place outside of church ministries and is currently under investigation by law enforcement. The individual has been removed from involvement with all volunteer roles until the matter is resolved. “ Schultz’s bail was set at $50,000 and his next court appearance is July 22. Police and the victim’s mom worry there could be other victims out there. Police said more charges could be coming.

Daycare owned by church has 4 year old girl molested

The senior pastor of a church day-care where a former employee was charged Thursday with lewd and lascivious molestation on a 4-year-old girl said a meeting was held Thursday night with parents to discuss the alleged incident.

Marty Shea, senior pastor at the Village View Community Church in Summerfield, said officials with the church-operated day-care called all the parents to a meeting that included Marion County Sheriff's Office Detective Bobby Levay, the lead investigator in the case.

Shea said none of the parents have given any indication they would remove their children from the facility.

He said he is a father of three children and has 13 grandchildren and would have concerns and questions because a trust has been broken. He said the families are being offered counseling.

Shea, who has been with the church 15 years, said he immediately wanted to know if any policies or procedures were violated, and he discovered they were not. He said all employees — including Nathan Michael Hubbard, 20, who was arrested Thursday — are subjected to an FBI background check, fingerprint check and interview.

Shea also said they have surveillance cameras in place at the center and training for the children about stranger danger, good touch versus bad touch and good secrets versus bad secrets.

"We want to provide the safest atmosphere for the children," he said.

The mother of the 4-year-old told day-care officials that her daughter had said she was awakened from her nap by Hubbard, who made her sit next to him and asked her to touch his pocket, which she did.

The arrest report states police recorded two phone calls between Hawkins and the victim, in which he apologizes and admits to having sex with her, saying he found her "very sexy, attractive and beautiful."

Hawkins was arrested at 3:30 p.m. at 3600 N. Tisdale.

Brazilian Pastor arrested for raping 6 women

A leading evangelical Christian pastor has been arrested in a Rio suburb for the alleged rape of six women, including three minors, police said.

Marcos Pereira, who has been head of Brazil's Assembly of God of the Latter Days church for the past 20 years, was detained late on Tuesday.

"He is accused of raping six women, including three under the age of 18," police inspector Marcio Mendonca Dugubras on Wednesday.

The pastor, who made headlines by practicing collective exorcisms of drug addicts and prisoners whom he later converted in Rio jails in the 1990s, was jailed in a maximum security penitentiary in northern Rio.

Dugubras said that Pereira would tell his victims that they were possessed by the devil and therefore needed to have sex with a "holy" person.

The victims, all of them poor, consented, thinking that by doing so they "were ridding themselves" of their sins, Dugubras told reporters.

Police had been investigating the pastor for a year and said he might have raped 20 other women since 1998.

One of the victims, a member of Pereira's church, was said to have been sexually abused from the age of 14 to 22.

Police said the pastor was also being probed for alleged involvement in drug trafficking, money laundering and homicide.

Indian Priest among arrested for selling 15 year old girl

The northwest Delhi Police have arrested eight people, including a local priest and two women, for allegedly selling a 15-year-old girl, police said on Monday.
The family to which the girl was "sold" had forced her to marry their 25-year-old son on May 1.

Police said the matter came to light after the girl's family members learnt that their daughter had bee sold for R80,000 and that they were kept in dark about the deal.

A case was registered at the Ashok Vihar police station after the victim's mother lodged a complaint.

The arrested people have been identified as Dharamvir, the girl's 'husband', Bharat Kishor Pandey, a local priest, Chandrakala, Chandrawati, Vishnu Nath, Ajay Yadav, Satbir and Tejpal. Police are now trying to find out if some more girls were sold in a similar manner by the accused.

The girl's family lives in Wazirpur area near Ashok Vihar and her parents are labourers, a police officer said. In her complaint, the girl's mother told the police that a few days ago, one of her neighbours told her about a potential match for her girl.

"The girl's parents agreed for the marriage and it was solemnised at a local temple by Pandey. Three days after the marriage, the complainant learnt that the marriage was

in fact a deal. She also learnt that R80,000 was paid for it," said the police officer, adding that they were interrogation the accused to bust a possible racket.

Parishioners blame 17 year old girl for being sexually assaulted by Priest

A secretly-married priest who sexually assaulted a teenage girl in what a judge described as an “enormous breach of trust” was today jailed for six months.
William Finnegan, known to his parishioners as Father Bill, touched the 17-year-old's bottom and "passionately" kissed her at St Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Fagley, Bradford last Easter.

Finnegan, 60, remains "in denial" about the offence, which led to his "considerable fall from grace" the Recorder of Bradford Judge Roger Thomas QC said as he jailed Finnegan.

"It just seems to me he cannot face up to what he's done," Judge Thomas added.
"I don't know what motivates him but maybe it's because he cannot afford to lose so much face and be in a state of shame in front of those who support him."
The judge also criticised some of Finnegan's parishioners who defiantly stood by their former priest, supporting him despite his conviction, and shunning the young victim.
He said: "Maybe some of them would believe the sun would rise in the west tomorrow if he said it."
Finnegan, who was suspended after allegations about the assault emerged, was found guilty by jurors following a trial at Bradford Crown Court.
During the trial he told the court and his diocese that he shirked his vow of celibacy by secretly marrying Beverley Dawson in 1999.
He wed the previously-married mother of two in Cyprus after meeting her at his former parish in Castleford, West Yorkshire, jurors heard.
The disclosure of his relationship came after Ms Dawson was called by the court to give evidence.
She said she and her husband, who voluntarily stepped down from his role, had never permanently lived together but saw each other regularly, had a sexual relationship and went on holidays together. Each week after he finished church services on Sunday he would visit her, then go back to work on Tuesday, she said.
Finnegan, who joined the church in 1977, "became sexually attracted" to the victim, referred to in court as B, and admitted he had "sexual feelings" for the sixth-form student, Judge Thomas said.
"On Easter Sunday, you did not restrain yourself and you acted out of your sexual attraction to B by committing this offence of sexual assault," the judge added.
"You said that you loved her and you forcibly took hold of her. You put a hand behind her head and with your other hand you took hold of her bottom.
"In that hold you repeatedly kissed her on her mouth which B described as 'passionate, not the sort of kiss you'd give your mum or dad, not even a kiss you'd give a boyfriend on a first date'.
"You had not only physically molested her but you had also put her in a massively difficult position in being able to report what you, as a priest, had done to her."
Finnegan, of Acacia Close, Castleford, West Yorkshire, later tried to silence her with bribes of "a good birthday present later in the year", the court heard, but she told her family and the clergyman was arrested.
The teen said she has been left feeling "frightened" and "extremely vulnerable".
In an impact statement read out in court, she said: "One of the main issues that's affected me is Father Bill could lie and put me through a trial. Why did he do that? He is supposed to be a man of God.

Dallas Pastor arrested for asking young girl to strip (and Christians are blaming the girl)

After reading the article I want to draw you all to the comments from Christians. Because they are blaming the victim!

Corinth police arrested the lead pastor of The Church of Corinth on Wednesday on sex-related charges, investigators said.

The Rev. Jeffrey Dale Williams, 47, was charged with attempted sexual performance of a child, a third-degree felony, police said.

Capt. Greg Wilkerson said the alleged incident took place at the victim’s home on March 30 and the investigation is continuing.

“We have been working on the case since April 3, and there is potential there may be more victims,” Wilkerson said.

Williams, according to police, is accused of attempting to persuade a child younger than age 18 to remove her clothing and show herself naked.

Wilkerson said the victim is uninjured and in a safe place.

Third-degree felonies are punishable by two to 10 years in state prison and a fine of up to $10,000, according to the Texas Penal Code.

Chris Medley, youth pastor for the church, said the church is not commenting until further investigation takes place.

Williams has been serving at the church, 1301 Tower Ridge Drive, since it opened in 1999, according to the church’s Facebook page.

Calls to Williams’ home were not answered.

Investigators are available to speak with anyone who may have knowledge of this or any other alleged crime involving Williams.

If there are additional alleged victims or witnesses, they are urged to call the Corinth Police Department at 940-498-2017.

Williams, police said, does not have any past criminal history.

As of press time Wednesday, Williams was awaiting arraignment at the Denton County Jail.

Now lets see the comments. Greg Birdsall writes:

How sad for you readers for believing the press. Since they cant report the truth, I will fill you in.
The victim is a troubled youth that had been cared for by this family. She was arrested a couple of weeks ago and now she is mad that she didn't get her way.
This a good loving family and a good loving church.

I actually responded to him, saying:

And that gave the Pastor the right to sexually assault the girl? You're blaming the girl and ignoring the Pastor.

Rachel, in response to George, wrote:

Thank YOU!!! I thought I was the only person who knew that and it bothers me that I can't say anything. These people are unbelievably annoying because no one has any idea what they're talking about. They're just blabbering about stuff they know nothing about. So ignorant...

Conservative Christian Pastors burn down religious shrines

Police in Luuka District are holding four pastors and 6 of their followers for burning down shrines and cutting down a tree believed to be a medium of spirits.
The nine shrines burnt on Sunday belonged to families that subscribe to one of the traditional African religions. The ‘spiritual’ tree was on the compound of 70-year-old James Kawewela.
The group had gone to Luuka to preach the gospel at Solid Rock, a local Pentecostal church establishment located in Waibuga village.

The accused include pastor Esther Lovisa of His Voice Assembly Church, based in Masajja Zone in Kampala who were arrested on Monday.
According to Police, the group was arrested after Mr Moses Sanyu, one of Mzee Kawewela’s sons, filed a complaint, accusing the pastors of malicious damage to property and violating their right to freedom of worship.
Speaking to the Daily Monitor from Waibuga Police Post, Pastor Lovisa, a daughter to the same old man, said the shrines were burnt and the tree brought down after their father became born again.

“When we went home for a chat, father accepted to be saved. So after him accepting Christ as his personal saviour, we had to burn all those things so that his road to God’s kingdom is cleared,” she said.

Virginian Pastor arrested for sexually abusing 14 year old girl

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A congregation is in shock after their pastor was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian.

“[The church] is in limbo, don't know what we're going to do,” said a member of the United Gospel Mission who asked not to be identified because of the nature of the crimes.

Deputies from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office tell that Johnnie Franklin Winnell of Gypsum Lane in Elkview confessed Friday to abusing the young girl. Capt. Sean Crosier said the abuse happened during several years.

Neighbor Patricia Strickland says she'd never imagine the man she's lived beside for 20 years could do such things. She said her young granddaughter even plays at Winnell's house and, while she trusts him, she feared the worst when she heard the news.

“I talked to her, and she said he's never done anything, or done anything out the way,” Strickland said.

As of Monday evening, Winnell was at the South Central Regional Jail. He declined to comment.
Deputies are investigating the extent of the abuse and the possibility that there may be other victims.

Nigerian Church covered up rape of 12 year old girl

An interpreter with the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, identified as Akin Adewale, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl.

The suspect allegedly committed the crime in his home located at number 6, Shamusideen, Oke-Sokori area of the town when his wife was not at home.

The victim is said to be daughter of a church member of the suspect’s church, and was
residing with the suspect and his wife, alongside their two kids.

After violently raping the 12-year-old, the church leader threatened her and asked her not to tell anyone, the victim’s mother said.

The traumatized girl, defied the threats, ran to the house of her biological parents and while she cried profusely narrated the event to her mother.

The victim’s mother reported to the Ogbe Unit of the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, who arrested the suspect.

Mr. Adewale, a commercial photographer, confessed to the crime and blamed the devil for the act.
In his statement to the OPC, a copy of which was made available to PREMIUM TIMES, the suspect confessed that he used a cloth to cover the victim’s mouth before forcefully raping her.

He confessed that after he had his way, he threatened her and then gave her pain killers.

The mother of the victim, in her statement, said her daughter fled the couple’s home and came to her crying profusely about her nasty and ugly experience.

“My daughter came home crying and telling me she was no more interested in staying with daddy Favour (the suspect). She narrated a shocking revelation that the man covered her mouth with cloth and had sex with her,” she said.

The mother said she reported the case to her husband, who decided that the alleged rapist must be arrested and prosecuted.

The victim has been taken to a private hospital located at Totoro area of the town for medication, while a laboratory investigation was also conducted at a private Diagnosis Laboratory situated along NTA road, Abeokuta.

Church seeks to cover pastor up

lPREMIUM TIMES learnt that officials of the church were frantically making moves to cover up the crime, as emissaries were sent to the victim’s parents and the OPC to appeal to them.

When contacted, the zonal coordinator of the OPC, Akeem Bakenne, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, adding that investigation is still ongoing and the case will be handed over to the police later.
The case was yet to be reported to the police as at the time of this report.

Nigerian Pastor arrested for raping 14 year old girl

An Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday adjourned to May 16, a case of alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl preferred against Pastor Basil Princewill of the Mountain Mover Fire Ministry, Nyanya, Abuja.

Chief Magistrate Ahmed Shaibu adjourned the case after listening to the cross-examination of the mother of the victim, Ngozi Iwuoha, by the defence counsel.

He said the adjournment would enable both parties to bring more witnesses before the court and ordered for witness summons to be served accordingly.

The prosecutor, Samuel Bulus, had at the beginning of the trial requested for a postponement of the proceedings for the day as the accused was already arraigned before a High Court in Abuja for same offence.

This was, however, over-ruled by the magistrate before the continuation of hearing.

Mr. Princewill was arraigned alongside Pauline Okoh, his Church Co-ordinator, for alleged rape, criminal conspiracy, intimidation, impersonation and assault.

The police said Princewill allegedly raped the 14-year-old minor.

Mr. Bulus told the court that sometime in July 2012 the Police Command in the FCT received a transferred case file with a covering letter from the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

“We got information that Princewill unlawfully had sexual intercourse in his office with the minor, who is a member of his church,” he said

He said the accused committed the offence under the pretence of carrying out “deliverance” on the victim and got her pregnant.

“When he discovered that the girl was pregnant, he conspired with one of his church coordinators, Pauline Okoh, and took her to Fantanu Head Medical Centre, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, for an abortion,” he said.

The prosecutor said the accused impersonated the victim’s father and aborted the pregnancy without her consent.

“He equally intimidated the victim not to disclose the situation to anybody,’’ he said.

The mother of the girl, Ngozi Iwuoha, said that her daughter refused to tell her anything when she noticed that she was bleeding.

“She insisted that it was her normal menstrual flow.

“I became worried and took her to our church pastor, who is the accused; he asked me to take her home and pray for God’s intervention and divine visitation.

“After enough persuasion, she told me that it was Papa, our church General Overseer that did it to her.

“He asked her to buy a white handkerchief and olive oil and come to his office with them to clean up her dirty foundation.

“She took the oil and handkerchief to his office and he forcibly had sex with her and threatened her with a knife.

“He made her promise never to tell anybody what happened or he would kill her,’’ she said.

Ms. Iwuoha said the accused was an imposter, who was impersonating as a lawyer with LLB qualification, while he was not.

“I took my daughter to the hospital and she was diagnosed with a post-abortion trauma, which led to complications.

“And when I told the accused the result of the test, he reported me to the police for allegedly defaming his character and I was arrested and detained for a day,’’ she said.

A CD player and a flyer of the accused dressed as a lawyer wearing a wig were presented to the court as evidence.

California Pastor: God was in pain when he divorced Israel

This is from the article where the Pastor said women who are abused should not seek divorce. I divided it up into two different posts. Let's first see what the Bible says about Israel:

Jeremiah 3:14- "Return, faithless people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I will choose you--one from a town and two from a clan--and bring you to Zion.

But very strangely, the bible also says this:

Exodus 4:22- "Then say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son,

Now lets read what the Pastor said:

The pastor explained that God understands the pain of a difficult marriage. The nation of Israel in the Bible is depicted as the bride of God, but Scripture also expresses in great detail the pain of God as Israel tries to divorce itself from its spiritual husband.

Through the Bible, people can see that God understands the pain of a hurtful marriage and can offer comfort, strength, perspective and wisdom to those also suffering from such a relationship, the pastor said.

California Pastor: Women should not divorce abusive husbands

Physical abuse by one’s spouse is not a biblical reason for divorce, says a pastor at Saddleback Church in southern California.

Tom Holladay, teaching pastor at the megachurch founded by best-selling author Rick Warren, says the Bible only gives two cases where divorce is acceptable: abandonment and a physical affair.

“I wish there were a third in Scripture having been involved as a pastor with situations of abuse,"Holladay said in an audio clip posted on Saddleback Church’s Web site. "There is something in me that wishes there were a Bible verse that says, 'If they abuse you in this-and-such kind of way, then you have a right to leave them.'"

Physical abuse, he defined, is someone “literally” beating another person up regularly.

"I don't mean they grab you once. I mean they've made a habit of beating you regularly,” he clarified.

Pastor from India arrested for harassing his wife

CHENNAI: A former pastor of a church in Vyasarpadi was arrested on Friday on charges of harassing his wife. The man's father and brother were also arrested and the three were remanded in judicial custody.

Police said A Antony Joseph married Mary, 21, a nurse, two weeks ago after she lodged a police complaint that the pastor had raped her. Last year, Mary visited Joseph's house in Sastri Nagar, Vyasarpadi to take care of his ailing mother. She visited his house a few times later and the two became intimate.

According to Mary, she was pregnant once and aborted the baby at a private hospital in Vyasarpadi with the help of Joseph. Mary claimed in her complaint that she agreed to the abortion only after Joseph promised to marry her. But he dodged her later.

Mary approached the assistant commissioner of police, MKB Nagar, Govi Manoharan and lodged a complaint against Joseph. Her complaint was forwarded to the all women police station in MKB Nagar. Meanwhile, the church where Joseph was a pastor stripped him of the post. Joseph then promised to marry Mary with the permission of his family members.

After the marriage, Mary sought police help saying she was apparently harassed by her husband, father-in-law Augustin and brother-in-law Henry Marcus.

Police called Joseph up for questioning. During the inquiry, police confirmed that she was harassed by her husband and his family.

Following this, MKB Nagar police registered a case and arrested Joseph, his brother and father and slapped charges of harassing a woman against them.

News organizations from throughout the United States as well as some from overseas interviewed Jones about Shelby County's challenges to the Voting Rights Act. He is one of several intervening defendants in the case under representation from the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

He and several of the members from his church, as well as dozens of others from throughout Shelby County and central Alabama, traveled to Washington, D.C., to attend the U.S. Supreme Court's arguments.

According to information on the church's website, Jones is married to Alecia Jones and they have five children. He has been preaching for 23 years.

The police department's statement indicated the agency received the report about the rape claim on April 9. After conducting the investigation and consulting with the Shelby County District Attorney's Office, police took Jones into custody on the first-degree rape charge.

Authorities obtained the warrant for his arrest on the charge through the Shelby County Magistrate Office.

Angry Christian mob attacks woman for dressing inapropriately in Kenya

Kenya is 83% Christian.

A group of men attacked a woman because she was dressed in a mini skirt. The men attacked the woman claiming that she was dressed inappropriately. The woman was spotted walking on the street in Kitengela, a town in Kenya.

The angry mob claimed the dress was too short. They argued with the woman to change into something more appropriate. When the woman ignored their request the men attacked her and undressed her.
The men then ripped her clothing apart so she could not put them back on, claiming that “it was better for her to go naked because her intentions were clear,” according to press reports in Kenya.
According to a witness, the crowd gathered around the woman and forcibly undressed her. Her clothes were torn and thrown away ensuring that she had nothing to cover her body as a punishment for dressing provocatively.
Many people gathered to watch as the drama unfolded.
The woman was left on the floor with nothing to cover her body.
A Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident offered the woman a long dress so she could go home.
