Minnesota Pastor arrested for sexual misconduct against 16 year old girl

OUTSIDE ST. PAUL, MN -- A local pastor accused of running away with a 16-year-old parishioner after possibly getting the girl pregnant was returned to Minnesota on Wednesday and is scheduled to make his first court appearance today.
Gustaro Resendiz Talabera, 39, of West St. Paul, is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine. He is also facing two gross misdemeanor charges of deprivation of custodial or parental rights, each of which has a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
Talabera, who was captured last week, arrived at the Dakota County Jail in Hastings about 7 p.m. Wednesday after being extradited from Illinois, where he and the girl were found Sept. 27.
Authorities say Talabera called his 15-year-old son Sept. 26 and allegedly said he was having an affair with the girl, and that she might be pregnant. Talabera said they were planning to flee to Mexico, where Talabera has relatives, according to court documents.

The girl, who turned 16 in June, sent a text message to her mother and stepfather, telling them that she wanted to “start a new life” with Talabera and asking them to keep police out of it, according to the criminal complaint.

The girl was taken into protective custody after she was found in Illinois with Talabera.
Talabera was scheduled to appear in court at 11 a.m. today.

Israeli city bans Christmas trees

Of course, no right wing rabid evangelical would believe this.

"...Shimon Gapso, the mayor of Upper Nazareth, had banned Christmas trees from all public buildings in his northern Israeli city.

"'Upper Nazareth is a Jewish town and all its symbols are Jewish,' Gapso said. 'As long as I hold office, no non-Jewish symbol will be presented in the city.'

"(...) The mayor is a stalwart ally of far-right politician Avigdor Lieberman and regularly expresses virulently anti-Arab views, including recently calling Nazarenes 'Israel-hating residents whose place is in Gaza' and their city 'a nest of terror in the heart of the Galilee'.

"(...) But Gapso is not alone in his trenchant opposition to making even the most cursory nod towards multiculturalism. The city’s chief rabbi, Isaiah Herzl, has refused to countenance a single Christmas tree in Upper Nazareth, arguing that it would be 'offensive to Jewish eyes'.

"That view, it seems, reflects the official position of the country’s rabbinate. In so far as they are able, the rabbis have sought to ban Christmas celebrations in public buildings, including in the hundreds of hotels across the country.

"A recent report in the Haaretz newspaper, on an Israeli Jew who grows Christmas trees commercially, noted in passing: 'hotels – under threat of losing kashrut certificates – are prohibited by the rabbinate from decking their halls in boughs of holly or, heaven forbid, putting up even the smallest of small sparkly Christmas tree in the corner of the lobby.'"

In the article it mentioned the city of Haifa also banning non-Jewish festivals.

Pastor from New Mexico arrested for sexually assaulting 12 year old girl

From 2011

LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Steven Joseph Perez, 64, from Los Lunas was arrested May 16 in Colorado by Pueblo Police for sexually molesting a girl back in October. But his neighbors back home are just now finding out about it.

Perez founded God's Church on the Move in Los Chavez. According to Pueblo Police, he was staying with the girl's family in Colorado for a few months late last year to "help out with bills by paying rent." The family used to attend Perez's church.

But according to the criminal complaint, the young girl, 12, told police she went to "Pastor Steve's room" one night to watch a movie. She said Perez fondled her. The girl told police she pretended to be asleep because she was scared and uncomfortable.

But Perez told police he's innocent. In his arrest warrant, Perez told police, "we were just wrestling, me and (victim), there was nothing sexual, (victim) is known for lying."

Perez continued saying, "you know how it is when you are wrestling? You get hurt and places on your body get touched without meaning anything by it?"

Perez is no longer the pastor at God's Church on the Move. His son now preaches there. People living in the kid-friendly neighborhood behind the small church were shocked to hear the allegations.

"I think (Perez) should be locked up, put away and throw the key away, so it's really rough to hear that," said neighbor Anthony Chavez. "It's sad actually."

Police did not immediately take Perez into custody back in October, citing his health issues. Perez is on an oxygen tank.

Perez posted his $20,000 bond on May 17.

California Pastor arrested for molesting several young girls

SALINAS, Calif. - Central Coast News is learning a longtime pastor for the Salinas Valley has been arrested for child molestation and charged by the District Attorney's office.
77 year old Frank Martinez was arrested on December 12th by investigators for the Salinas Police Department.
According to officials with the Monterey County District Attorney's office, Martinez was charged with five counts all stemming from child molestation.
The counts include reoccurring sexual contact with a child under the age of 14 and lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, the youngest 6 years old.
The counts pertain to incidents that happened between the years 2000 and 2012.
One source, a 34-year-old relative of Martinez, claims she was a fourth victim to him. She told Central Coast News in an e-mail about his history.
"He wasn't a pastor at the time. It happened when he lived at the Sunset Park apartments on Del Monte Avenue. When I was 6 or 7 he became a pastor. There was a church on Sieber St. in East Salinas where he first started as a pastor. That was maybe in 1985 or 86."
She said Martinez opened United Christian Church, in Salinas, in 2000. According to well-known pastor, Frank Gomez, Martinez was well liked in the area and he never knew of any illegal actions.
Gomez said Martinez resigned two years ago and his congregation was turned over to Sally Torres, who moved the ministry to Castroville.
Sources tell Central Coast News that Frank Martinez was a pastor for over thirty years and most recently preached for the Christian Counseling Center in Salinas, which closed some years ago.
Those same sources tell Central Coast News that Martinez went under a number of different aliases in the Monterey County community.
Martinez pleaded not guilty to all the charges on December 17th and is due back in court on Wednesday, December 26th and a preliminary hearing could be scheduled for Friday, December 28th.

Alaskan Pastor arrested for sexually abusing young girl

FAIRBANKS—The former pastor of a Fairbanks church has been accused of carrying on a months-long sexual relationship with a teenage girl. A grand jury last week indicted S. Anthony Justice, 31, on 12 counts of sexual abuse of a minor, a class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Police believe that Justice is somewhere in the Lower 48, possibly in Georgia. A $25,000 warrant for his arrest has been issued. Justice was hired as the pastor of Corinthian Baptist Church in 2007 but led the church for only 15 months before he was dismissed in August 2008. Fairbanks police believe Justice met the 15-year-old victim while he was pastor. Detective Peyton Merideth said Justice initially engaged in suspicious activity with the girl, including sending inappropriate text messages at church functions. “There was some inappropriate behavior, it was not necessarily illegal though,” he said. However, the relationship between Justice and the teen allegedly became sexual last summer, months after he was dismissed as pastor of the church. Justice’s dismissal led to a lengthy court case about whether the church’s leadership or the congregation has the right to fire a pastor. Justice’s supporters said he attracted new worshippers, especially younger people to the church, while trustees said they found his leadership lacking.

Christian teacher arrested for raping 14 year old girl

Tyler Baatz, 26, was arrested in August on felony charges of child seduction and sexual misconduct, class D and class B felonies respectively. Today, the former middle school teacher was sentenced to prison for his crime.

Just before Judge Duane Huffer handed down his sentence, Baatz said he is deeply sorry for the pain he has caused the victim, her family, the schools, his friends and the community. “There’s nothing I can do to ever take back what I did … this is something I will personally carry with me the rest of my life.”

The father of the 14-year-old girl Baatz admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with, also addressed the court and, through an emotional statement, said his daughter is dealing with issues related to the violation. “We try to tell her it’s not her fault, but parents tell their kids not to hang out with her … She’s dealing with issues at school, friends who no longer associate with her.”

The victim’s father added, the impact that the events have had have left “such a cloud over our family.”

Two witnesses also spoke in court on behalf of Baatz. Among them was Winona Lake pastor Rodney Valentine who said Baatz sought him out seeking spiritual guidance. ”What happened to these families is grievous but that was a broken man. I see a man who owns his sin and is seeking the help he needs.”

Judge Huffer addressed Baatz during sentencing saying, “This is one of the sad cases we have. Both the victim and perpetrator are young. Here we have a young man with no criminal history, no delinquent act, just appears to be a really good person. But then we get down to the aspect of your own statement in the police report which you said, ‘I alone was responsible, I was the person in a position of trust’ and that says it all.”

With a plea agreement that dropped the class D felony charge of child seduction, Baatz was sentenced for the class B felony crime of sexual misconduct to 6 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections with credit for 6 days served. Judge Huffer suspended 3 years of the jail term which will be served on probation. Baatz will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Baatz was jailed Aug. 21 following a Warsaw Police investigation that uncovered an inappropriate relationship with one of his 14-year-old female students at Edgewood Middle School. Baatz had been a teacher at the school for over 3 years but was suspended without pay two days after his arrest before he resigned.

According to a probable cause affidavit released by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor, Baatz admitted to inappropriate conduct with his former student. The acts occurred over a period of three weeks in August at his apartment in Warsaw.

Following sentencing, Baatz hugged several family members and friends and was remanded to the custody of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

New York church employee arrested for raping teen girl

This time he played the wrong tune.

A Brooklyn middle school music teacher and trumpet player bedded a teenage member of his wife’s youth choir — and even had sex with the girl while his wife was at church, officials said.

Vaughn McKinney, a teacher at IS 59 in Queens, was arrested this morning on charges of rape and sexual misconduct, cops said.

The music teacher allegedly pressured the then- 16-year-old girl into a sexual relationship after she complained about needing a job because she didn’t have enough money to buy a phone.
McKinney not only bought the girl a cell phone and paid the monthly bills, according to city investigators, he also gave her an iPod, shoes from a SoHo boutique and cash — but with sleazy strings attached.

“If I get you the cell phone, you know what you have to do for it,” McKinney was quoted as saying by the girl’s father, a report by the Special Commissioner of Investigation found.

The now 18-year-old girl told investigators she has sex with McKinney 12 to 15 times throughout 2011 — including at a hotel identified as the Surfside Motel in Queens and in his East Flatbush basement on Sundays after his wife, Patricia, had left for church.

Patricia McKinney is the musical director for the East Flatbush Ecumenical Community Choir, which the girl was a member for four years.

Vaughn McKinney would sometimes attend the choir’s practice sessions.

The twisted relationship began to unravel last fall when the girl confided in a youth minister at The Brooklyn Tabernacle Church about the affair, the report says.

The church pastor then confronted McKinney, allegedly got him to confess — and reported the matter to the girl’s mother.

The pastor told investigators he did not contact police at that point, the report says.

The girl’s mother also stalled in reporting the incident, investigators said. When the teen’s father found out, he went to the local precinct but the girl was uncooperative.

Eventually, Patricia McKinney found a bill for the girls’ cell phone and reached out to her.

Patricia soon learned the harsh truth after meeting with the girl’s mom, then “left the restaurant, went to her car and started to cry,” according to the report.

No one reported the relationship to authorities until March 2012, when the girl’s mother contacted SCI.

Their report confirmed the sexual contact, but left it open as to whether it began when the girl was 16 or 17.

Indiana Pastor arrested for molesting young girl

Now I'm gonna take a gamble on this one. The article doesn't mention gender. But we clearly see young girls and women are always the victims. So I'd say we're pretty safe on this.

A New Albany, Ind., pastor was arrested at his Louisville home Wednesday night on child molestation charges.

Isrom Perry-Johnson, 33, of the 500 block of South Third Street, is charged with three counts of second-degree sodomy.

Officer Carey Klain, a spokeswoman for Louisville Metro Police, said the second-degree charge means the incident involved a victim 14 or younger. Perry-Johnson was indicted after the victim came forward recently with information about an incident in 2010, she said.

Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said the department would not disclose the victim’s gender.

One member of Johnson’s congregation at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, in the 700 block of Linden Avenue in New Albany, said he was shocked by the charges.

“He’s a very loving and caring person,” said Timothy Vinson, 28, of Jeffersonville. “He’s the definition of a pastor. It comes as a shock. I couldn’t see him doing the crime.”

Vinson said he never heard any allegations of misconduct about Perry-Johnson and doesn’t know who the alleged victim is. The congregation, which numbers about 20, consists mostly of adults in their 20s, but some minors also attend, he said.

Vinson said he has been a member of the church for three years and was attracted to Perry-Johnson’s energetic preaching and the community.

“We’re pretty much like a family,” he said. “We’re very nurturing and care for one another. If one’s sick, the rest of us are sick. If one’s happy, the rest of us are happy.”

Prince of Peace was founded in 1970 and was originally at 17th Street and Kentucky Street in Louisville, according to its website. The church closed in 1980 and reopened in 1982 on Garland Avenue in Louisville. That location burned in 2004.

After operating in various locations for about a year, the church hired Perry-Johnson in July 2005 as its new pastor.

Under his leadership, the church bought its current location in New Albany, although the exact date isn’t given on the website.

A biography of Perry-Johnson on the church’s website says he has been preaching since he was 19.

Philadelphia Pastor arrested for sexually harassing females

Cumru Township Police arrested a pastor who they say stalked and harassed members of the congregation by sending them harassing and sexually explicit text messages.

Last November, a member of the Spring Valley Church of God in Muhlenberg Township told police she received several text messages between April and November from a person who refused to identity himself. The woman described the messages as forms of harassment and believed she was being stalked at her workplace and home. Investigators say some of the messages were sexually explicit.

Police began to investigate and say they discovered that other members of the Spring Valley Church received similar text messages. Cumru Township Police say they later learned Reading City Police were also conducting their own investigation after receiving a report from another alleged victim at Spring Valley Church. The combined efforts of both police departments led them to identify the suspect as Aron Andonie, a member of the Pastoral Staff at Spring Valley Church.
Andonie was arrested and charged with harassment and stalking.

If you’ve received harassing phone calls or text messages from the number “484-219-8526,” please call Berks County Detectives at 610-478-7171.

Texas Pastor who was arrested for domestic assault against a woman gets standing ovation from his congregation

TEXAS CITY — Calling the incident that led to his arrest on domestic assault and felony drug charges “a stupid decision,” Baypoint Community Church pastor the Rev. Bobby Gass stood before his congregation Sunday and announced he would step down from the pulpit and church leadership. He said he hoped the move would be temporary.

Gass, 60, Baypoint’s founder and lead pastor, was arrested Wednesday after police received a call that a man shoved a woman out of a vehicle.

Police allege they found Gass to be in possession of cocaine when they questioned him.
Gass did not address the specifics of the incident with his congregation during two morning services. After the first service, he told The Daily News that police reports of the incident “were not as they would seem.”

He denied hitting the woman riding in his car or trying to push her out of the vehicle. He also said the bag of cocaine had been found in the church parking lot. He said he had kept it for a meeting during which church leaders were to discuss how it came to be on church property.

Gass’ appearances at the church services were brief. Associate Pastor Terry Ray delivered the sermons.

Wearing blue jeans and a short-sleeved red shirt, Gass spoke in a strained voice. Ray and another pastor stood by his side and at times put their arms around him.

During the second service, the woman Gass is accused of abusing joined him on stage. The Daily News’ policy is not to identify potential victims of domestic violence unless they agree to be identified.

Gass said Ray and another associate pastor, along with elders, would run the day-to-day operations of the church and the worship services.

Gass said he would attend services but would not be involved in church management or the handling of finances while he worked “to get this over.”

Reading from the Book of Timothy, Gass noted that the Bible calls for church leaders to “be above reproach,” and that given his arrest and criminal charges, he had to step away.

Gass had plenty of supporters at the church.

When he told the congregation he loved them, a woman from the audience shouted out, “We love you, too.”

Most of the 60 people who attended the first service Sunday gave Gass standing ovation after his address.

After the first service several people joined Gass in the back of the worship center, and many hugged him and offered their support.

Ray did not directly address Gass’ situation.

But in a reference to overall issues, including an effort to sell the church’s worship center, Ray said “we are at a point to make right decisions,” and that what action they took would reflect how the church handled adversity.

Ray also admonished church members to avoid “gossip” and “harsh words.”

None of the church members The Daily News attempted to interview would comment on Gass’ status or what consequences his situation would have on the church.

Before the criminal charges, Gass said the church was struggling.

Since 2008, attendance has dropped from 1,000 to less than 300, Gass said.

A 2011 divorce also had caused some members, including some of the church’s biggest donors, to leave, he said.

South African pastor arrested for raping 12-year old girl, sexually assaulting two others

Johannesburg - A Soweto pastor has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl and sexually assaulting two other girls in the area, Soweto police said on Thursday.
Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said the 62-year-old pastor of a Zion Apostolic church in Soweto was arrested on Wednesday afternoon.
He allegedly raped the 12-year-old girl and sexually assaulted two others aged 13 and 15. The 12-year-old girl reported the matter to her teachers at school, who alerted the police.
This was after she told her mother about the first crime that happened a month earlier, but the mother did not believe her at the time.
The other two girls came forward after the 12-year-old reported the matter. The girls told the police the pastor had not raped them but had repeatedly given them money after fondling them.
One of the girls had to be taken to a place of safety, as she was afraid to go back home after the matter was reported to the police.
She had also told her guardian about the alleged abuse, but was also not believed.
The pastor apparently cornered the girls when they came to buy from a spaza shop on his property.
He was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Oklahoma Pastor arrested for raping teen girl

COAL COUNTY, OK -- A Former Coalgate youth pastor has been arrested for sex crimes against children. 28-year-old Dustin Werneberg was taken into custody Wednesday on several second degree rape charges.

An affidavit states the sexual abuse has been going on for more than a year. Kristen Shanahan spoke with the lead investigator of this case and the pastor who says he never believed his employee could be involved in something like this.

Police tell us Werneburg was arrested at Blanchard Middle School in McClain County Wednesday where he was serving as a teacher's aid. He is now behind bars in Coal County on three counts of Second Degree Rape, three counts of Forcible Sodomy, a charge of Lewd or Indecent Proposals to a Child and Lewd Molestation. Investigators say all these crimes were committed against a girl under the age of 16.

Coalgate police investigator Richard Costantino says former youth minister Dustin Ray Werneburg was arrested on eight sex crime charges after a parent came forward saying Werneburg had inappropriate contact with their daughter.
"Information was passed to us. We had it checked out. Found that it was factual and we are still proceeding with the investigation," Costantino said.

An affidavit states the victim's parent found inappropriate messages and pictures between Werneburg and his daughter. It also shows the two began texting in November of 2011 and exchanged at least 1,000 messages.

"It happens more in the United States than people think. Basically because of the internet because it allows more people to come into contact with other people," Costantino said.
The affidavit states Werneburg was a youth pastor at an area church.

Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Coalgate, Jeff Self, says Werneburg did work at his church for three years.
"We had some allegations of sexual misconduct him basically inappropriately approaching a teenage girl. And with that we met with leadership of the church and asked for his resignation," Self said.
Wereneburg resigned in August, but Self says this was not the first allegation made against Werneburg.

"We had three allegations over the course of three years. Two of them he had come to me and said you are going to hear this personally, and it was a he said she said and we believed him and there was no anything else about it, but once we had that third allegation that was really significant in August," Self said.

Self says since no victims came forward he did not believe the allegations against Werneburg. He says Werneburg passed a background check before working at the church and appeared to be a good family man.
"You look back and you go 'were their signs I should have seen. Did I miss something? I had the guy in my home and his family. It puts all kinds of questions in your mind that really makes it harder to trust the next person," Self said.

Self says right now they are not looking for a new youth minister.

"We're just dealing with this situation and trying to make sure our students are able to get through this and not to lose their faith in God through this," Self said.

Self says Sunday morning he talked to church members about Werneburg's charges. Werneburg's preliminary hearing is set for December the 6th.

Missouri Pastor arrested for molesting fourteen year old girl, faces more charges

Missouri Baptist Convention officials are watching a member church whose pastor was arrested recently on sexual abuse charges a year after his previous acquittal of child molestation.

Travis Smith, 42, of California, Mo., appeared for arraignment Oct. 16 in Moniteau County court. He faces charges of forcible rape, statutory rape and sexual abuse alleged to have occurred in 1998, statutory rape in 1999 and statutory rape and sodomy in 2005.

Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church in Stover, Mo., since 2006, was found not guilty on Sept. 28, 2011, by a jury in Morgan County of misdemeanor child molestation of a 14-year-old girl in 2009. A separate charge of statutory rape was dropped because that accuser turned out to have been 17, the age of consent in Missouri, rather than 15 as first claimed when their alleged improper relationship began.

The First Baptist Church, Stover, website listed Smith as its pastor as of Oct. 23. Local media reported Oct. 3 that church members were standing by their pastor despite the charges. Community residents countered with a vigil on behalf of his alleged victims, protesting a church fish fry that was described in conflicting media reports as a show of support for Smith and an annual church event that just happened to coincide with news of the arrest.

The church website lists affiliations with the Southern Baptist Convention and Lamine Baptist Association. Rob Phillips, communications team leader with the Missouri Baptist Convention, said First Baptist Church in Stover has contributed more than $12,500 to the Cooperative Program year-to-date, making the church a member of the Missouri Baptist Convention, and the church has not contacted the state convention regarding its affiliation.

“We are aware of the situation at First Baptist Church, Stover, and are in contact with the association's director of missions, who is working closely with the pastor and the church,” Phillips said in an e-mail.

“While we respect the independence of the local church and have no direct authority over it, we are deeply grieved by the allegations,” Phillips said. “We pray that the courts will administer justice fairly and swiftly, and that there will be healing among the wounded church members. We also pray the church members will have the wisdom, grace and courage to act biblically in their dealings with their pastor.”

Smith is out of jail on $70,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m., Nov. 13, in Moniteau County Judicial Circuit 26 in California, Mo., before Associate Circuit Judge Peggy Richardson.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Smith Oct. 1 on six felony charges involving multiple victims following a lengthy investigation by its division of drug and crime control. State policed turned him over to the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department.

The charges against him carry penalties ranging from a minimum of a year in prison up to life, depending on circumstances.

Zimbabwean Pastor arrested for raping woman eight times

Zimbabwe – Pastor Wilson Duncan Kwambana, founder and pastor of Mount Olives Church, allegedly raped a congregant several times claiming to be strengthening her Holy Spirit, a court heard.

Pastor Kwambana, 32, yesterday appeared before the magistrate court facing eight counts of rape. The pastor allegedly told the 22-year-old mechanical engineering student that she had a very bad evil spirit in her.

The pastor later told the girl that the Holy Spirit had chosen a husband for her, and the husband who is identified as Tendai Chivangu.

In June last year, the pastor and her claimed holy spirit husband, including other members of their church went to a valley and told the girl and her holy spirit husband to have sexual intercourse that it will help chase the evil spirit in her away.

During the same month, the Pastor took the girl and other church members again to a Hill, where he had sexual intercourse with her four times in his car.

The court was told that the same team went to different places where the Pastor and her holy spirit husband took turns to have sexual intercourse with the girl.

The Magistrate court released the Pastor on $100 bail and ordered him to return to court on November 21 for trial, MyZimbabwe reports.

New Brunswick is a Canadian province that is 86% Christian. It looks like these people are from the First Nations, but we all know how they were brutally raped, beaten and forced to accept Christianity (google residential schools) many years ago.

MIRAMICHI, N.B. - A courtroom in northern New Brunswick erupted in cheers Saturday after a man was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his 16-year-old cousin.

A six-man, six-woman jury found Curtis Bonnell guilty after deliberating for about six and a half hours late Friday and early Saturday.

Family members of the victim — Hilary Bonnell — wept openly in court as the verdict was read. Curtis Bonnell showed no emotion and members of his immediate family quickly left the courthouse.

Outside the courthouse, Hilary's mother, Pam Fillier, sobbed as relatives and friends hugged her.

She said it will take a long time to heal.

"I don't think I will ever really have true closure," said Fillier. "She was my only little girl and him being guilty doesn't give her back to me."

The conviction carries an automatic sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years, however, Judge Fred Ferguson has scheduled a sentencing hearing for Nov. 14 to allow members of Hilary's family to read victim impact statements.

During the seven-week trial at the Court of Queen's Bench in Miramichi, the Crown alleged the 32-year-old Bonnell picked up the girl while driving on a rural stretch of road, sexually assaulted her and killed her.

Prosecutor Bill Richards told the court that Bonnell buried her body near an old firing range to avoid detection.

The girl's disappearance from the Esgenoopetitj First Nation on Sept. 5, 2009, sparked an extensive search and gripped the native community for two months.

Bonnell was arrested on Nov. 8, 2009, and led police to the burial site the next day.

During subsequent interviews with police that were entered as evidence, Bonnell told officers that he fought with Hilary, sexually assaulted her and killed her.

But during the trial, Bonnell offered a different version of events.

He testified that he woke up on Sept. 5, 2009, after a night of alcohol and drugs to find Hilary dead next to him in his pickup truck. He said he didn't know how she died, but panicked and buried her.

Bonnell said police filled his head with what they believed happened, and he just told them what he thought they wanted to hear.

The court was told that autopsy and toxicology reports were inconclusive on the exact cause of death, but termed the manner of death as a homicide.

A forensic pathologist called by the defence disagreed with the homicide determination.

Dr. David Chiasson of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto said at best it was "criminally suspicious." He suggested Hilary could have died as a result of "positional asphyxia," which can happen when someone is intoxicated and they get in a slumped position that constricts their airway.

Following the trial, Crown attorney Bill Richards told reporters that the lack of a clear cause of death made the prosecution difficult.

"We had to give the answer to the jury circumstantially with the clothing on Hilary as she was found, the laceration above her eye as well as that very, very important and crucial text message," he said. "Those are the things I think sealed the first-degree murder conviction in the jury's mind."

During the trial, the jury was shown two text messages that Hilary sent to Haylie Bonnell, the accused's sister, on the morning she disappeared.

They read, "Please answer me I'm scared," and "OMF text me I'm scared."

Haylie's phone battery had died and the messages weren't retrieved until five days later.

RCMP Sgt. Greg Lupson said police had little to go on after the girl's sudden disappearance.

"It is just good old fashioned police work that led to this," said Lupson on Saturday. "There was no one piece of critical evidence that was pointed to."

Defence attorney Gilles Lemieux said he was surprised Bonnell was found guilty of first-degree murder.

The jury had the options of first- or second-degree murder, manslaughter, or not guilty.

He said an appeal is being considered.

"We are definitely going to look at our different avenues as far as that goes," Lemieux said as he left the courthouse. "I fully anticipate that we'll get instructions to file an appeal."

The defence would have 30 days to file a notice of appeal, following the Nov. 14 sentencing hearing.

Michigan Pastor arrested for murdering fiancee's daughter, also has a history of murdering women

The murder confession of John D. White, a Michigan pastor who admitted to killing his fiancĂ©e’s daughter in what is being described as a sexually-motivated crime, has left a community in Broomfield Township stunned.

White, an ex-convict, has been a pastor at the small town’s Christ Community Fellowship for three years. He reportedly asked his congregation of 14 members to start a prayer chain for 24-year-old Rebekah Gay when she was still missing, before making his startling murder confession to investigators, said a friend of White’s to the Associated Press.

"He was pretty shook up. He said the police were giving him a hard time,” said Donna Houghton, 76, a church elder who helped hire White back in 2009.

The 55-year-old pastor was charged with first-degree murder on Thursday, and remained jailed without bond on Friday at the Isabella County Courthouse.

"We are all absolutely floored," said Houghton, who claimed that she had defended White’s innocence up until she was told that he had already confessed to the murder. “Then he had no leg to stand on.”

Houghton said that White was close with Gay and had frequently babysat her 3-year-old son while she was away at work. White told investigators that after burying Gay’s naked body in a wooded area nearby, he went back to her trailer and dressed up her son in a costume so that the child’s father could pick him up for Halloween.

White also admitted to repeatedly striking Gay’s head with a mallet and strangling her with a zip tie, allegedly in pursuit of a sexual fantasy of having sex with her dead body. He said that he could not remember if he had had intercourse with her after she lost consciousness.

According to the Lansing State Journal, it’s not the first time White has been charged with a similar crime against a young woman. Houghton said that she and the entire congregation had all been aware of White’s criminal history when he applied for the pastor position at the church.

White served almost 12 years in prison for manslaughter, after killing a 26-year-old woman in Kalamazoo County. He had previously been sentenced to probation in 1981, for choking and stabbing a 17-year-old girl in Battle Creek, Mich.

"He was absolutely contrite," said Houghton. "All kinds of people turn around and meet the Lord and they are a different person. He was doing a lot of good in the community. ... He was doing a lot of good and Satan did not want him doing good, and Satan got to him."

Maricopa County prosecutors say 31-year-old Joseph Jamie Larosa also was ordered Thursday to register as a sex offender.
Larosa was arrested in September 2011 on suspicion of luring a minor and attempted public sexual indecency.
Police say a man attempted to lure an 11-year-old girl and 13-year-old girl into his car as they were walking to Kyrene Middle School in Tempe.
The girls ignored the man and reported the incident when they arrived at school.
Larosa later was arrested at his Tempe home and booked into jail.

Ohio Pastor arrested for sexually assaulting teen girl

The article doesn't mention the gender, but I'm gonna take a guess on this, and I'm pretty sure it's correct. I've recorded well over 400 rapes, assaults, murders etc of girls and women.

UPDATE: It turns out an article that was just recently published confirms the victim is a girl:

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced the arrest of a Gallia County pastor accused of sexually assaulting a teenager.

David Young was arrested by agents with the Crimes Against Children Unit, which is part of the Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, assisted deputies from the Gallia County Sheriff's Office Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators took Young into custody at the Simpson Chapel United Methodist Church in Rio Grande, Ohio, where he is the pastor.

Young is accused of sexually assaulting a teenager between the ages of 13 and 14 who was part of a class he taught through the church.

"These allegations are extremely distressing because Ohioans should be able to trust people in positions of authority," said Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. "We will go to all lengths necessary to hold those who commit crimes against children accountable."

Those with the office of Gallia County Prosecutor Jeff Adkins officially filed the felony charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor against the suspect Wednesday afternoon.

The case will proceed to a grand jury for further review.

Authorities are not commenting on the frequency of the alleged abuse or the locations where the incidents may have taken place. Investigators, however, are warning the community that there could be other victims.

"These are very serious allegations, and we urge anyone with additional information to come forward," said Gallia County Sheriff Joseph Browning. "We are thankful to the Attorney General and the agents with Bureau of Criminal Investigation who quickly took action to help us investigate these allegations of abuse."

Young is currently in the Gallia County Jail.

Anyone with additional information regarding David Young can contact the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 855-BCI-OHIO or the Gallia County Sheriff's Office at 740-446-1221.

Arab church official arrested for molesting thirteen year old girl

Now the article does not mention the gender, but a commenter on the bottom of the article who's defending this man blames the girl for her activities.

A Woodstock man remains behind bars after he was arrested on charges he molested a 13-year-old child.

Shogut Hussien, 64, is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center on one count of child molestation and two counts of sexual battery.

He was arrested on Tuesday after a week-long investigation by the Cherokee Sheriff's Office. Public Information Officer Lt. Jay Baker said the incident was reported to the department by the child's family.

Baker said Hussien transported the child to activities at First Baptist Church of Woodstock.
"He has been involved with the family for approximately 4 months," he said, adding "indications are that this occurred on one occasion."

Baker said there are no reports of other victims at this time.

Hussien has not been arrested or charged with similar crimes, but a search of court records show he's been arrested for driving under the influence in 2008 and 2010.

Now how come no right wing site is covering this? OH I KNOW. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is 95% CHRISTIAN.

Swaziland Pastor arrested for raping his own daughters

The Jericho pastor who allegedly sexually abused all his four daughters in the process infecting them with HIV and AIDS has since been arrested and charged with rape.
He was arrested on Monday while at his work place.
His arrest came after this publication carried an article about his evil deeds over the past weekend officials from the deputy prime minister’s (DPM) office had visited the family and gathered all the information that led to his arrest.
Highly placed sources also revealed that he confessed to the police that he sexually abused his daughters such that two of them have his children.
“This is disgusting and it is very bad when family members treat such as a secret,” said one of the DPM officers. The rouge’s daughters were afraid to report the abuse because their father threatened to kill them if they did.
However, they said they told their mother everything with the hope that she would report to the police but she dismissed their story as untrue and ordered them to stop spreading such a ‘lie’ about her husband. Health motivators from the area are said to be aware of the matter but, were afraid to discuss it because the man might attack them.
The daughters confirmed that their father infected them with HIV while unconfirmed reports are that one of the younger daughters lost her womb when she was young as s result of the abuse. The girls said their father started abusing them when they were still very young and at primary school.

British Pastor arrested for abusing his wife

UXBRIDGE — A pastor's wife has won a year-long restraining order against her husband after claiming her husband abused her and had welcomed young women into her home for sex.

In an Uxbridge District Court hearing yesterday, in an affidavit filed by Beth Stanley, she accused her husband, Dennis H. Stanley, of making her sleep downstairs while he was with the female guests. A judge initially granted a temporary restraining order Monday but extended it Friday after hearing from Mrs. Stanley. The pastor of the non-denominational Church of the End Times was arrested after a standoff with police Monday.

In the affidavit Mrs. Stanley filed on Monday for the restraining order she said: “My husband invited ten girls to live in our house for the last week or more. He now sleeps upstairs with them in bed. My husband believes this is the love he needs and can get from them. … My husband and his girlfriends have locked me out of our house!”

Mrs. Stanley, who said she and her husband have been married for 10 years, and together for 22 years, were high school sweethearts. She has filed for divorce. The couple has three children ages 7, 10 and 13.

Dennis Stanley, reached by phone yesterday, said, “She's (my wife) obviously trying to make me look like a moron.”

He said the groups of young women were just a gathering after church.

“There's nothing sexual or whatever the accusations might be. It's just friendships. Just friends.”

Dennis Stanley said that the women were invited to stay at the house because, “I own the house and I let whoever I want stay there.”

Dennis and his brother David H. Stanley, both of Uxbridge, were in Uxbridge District Court Friday morning on charges stemming from a one-hour standoff with police Monday night regarding an alleged violation of a restraining order.

Police tried to serve a restraining order to Dennis Stanley Monday night, but he refused to take the court document. Police said he and his brother David allegedly locked themselves in the house. David later left through a rear door and Dennis remained inside. Police said people began arriving and gathered around David.

“David was yelling comments about not bowing to men, banishing the demons, in the power of Jesus Christ, not believe in the law of man, and that he did not recognize our authority,” police wrote in their report of the incident.

Police from several area towns converged on the home during the standoff.

Dennis Stanley was later handcuffed, arrested and charged with violating an abuse prevention order and resisting arrest. His brother, David, was also charged with violating an abuse prevention order, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.

Then on Tuesday, police escorted Mrs. Stanley to the home to regain custody of the house and to remove, for trespassing, up to 10 other people who were living at the house. Police could see several young women dancing in the kitchen, police said. They reportedly laughed at the officer's requests to be let them in and turned up the music louder.

One of the women screamed at police, “You don't have a right to be here” and “You are not my master.” She also scratched a police officer. Police cleared the house and issued trespass notices to seven young women ages 16 to 19.

The Stanley brothers, who own Driveways Corp. paving company, founded the Church of the End Times in 2006 and serve as pastors of the Christian church. Their videos on YouTube show “Pastor David” conducting exorcisms.

After yesterday's court appearance, Mrs. Stanley said, “He's listening to his brother (David). He wants to live the life of 10 women, being a rock star.”

She added, “He made it like a control issue,” referring to the allegation that her husband was having sex with the young women.

“Then he talked to God and God told him we're not to be together. It's all lies. It ruined my marriage.”

As for her brother-in-law, Mrs. Stanley said David thinks he's the Archangel Michael and that Dennis thinks he's a new “half-breed” angel.

Even the Stanley brothers' mother is critical of the how the church has evolved recently. Andrea Gault of Rutland, mother of the brothers, said they came from a decent, normal family.

The Church of the End Times was originally “just grace and Jesus,” she said. But since two or three years ago, “The church right now is not a church. It's just a crazy, crazy place,” Ms. Gault said.

“The only thing I can think of (that caused the change) is maybe steroids,” she said. The sons worked out a lot and Ms. Gault said she believed they took the muscle-enhancing drugs.

David Stanley, who was charged with disturbing the peace along with resisting arrest and violating an abuse prevention order, said he did not cause a standoff with police, but was simply praying. When asked by a reporter if the Church of the End Times was a cult, he denied it.

“What I've got going is the word of God,” he said.

David Stanley's case was continued until Oct. 16.

Meanwhile, neighbors on Murphy's Way, a cul-de-sac of half-million-dollar homes in South Uxbridge, have said David and Dennis Stanley have terrorized the neighborhood for years and that in the last few years it's gotten more “bizarre.”

“It's awful. We can't stand having them as neighbors. They'll do anything they feel like doing,” said Susan Dalpe, who lives across the street from both of the Stanleys' houses.

Mrs. Dalpe said the Stanleys shoot off big fireworks in the summer and ride around the neighborhood and retention pond with all-terrain vehicles, often with young children who are not wearing protective gear or helmets.

Mrs. Dalpe, who is retired, said she and her husband can't enjoy the garden they spend much time tending because, in addition to the recreational vehicles tearing around the neighborhood, there's a stream of cars — many with young women — coming to David or Dennis Stanley's house.

“I'll point blank say — it's a cult,” Mrs. Dalpe said about the Church of the End Times.

“There's really never any real message. When they're … sort of praying, they'll use these vulgarities.”

Mrs. Dalpe said the police cruise by or are called to the neighborhood at least three times a week.

“I do call the police often, because I'm not letting up,” she said.

Calls to police for comment were not returned.

After police arrested Dennis and David Monday night, Mrs. Dalpe said the group of church followers that had gathered outside Dennis Stanley's house had an exorcism right there outside.

“This girl was arching her back… and shaking,” Mrs. Dalpe said. “She did that for at least 10 to 15 minutes. And then they all laughed. They thought it was great.”

Mrs. Dalpe said she feared the Stanley brothers because she was never sure what they would do and she was afraid their property would be robbed.

She said Courtney Bish, 20, one of the women recently arrested for breaking and entering and burglary in Sutton Sept. 10, is the daughter of Vernon Bish, who is considered “number three” in The Church of the End Times, after David Stanley, number one, and Dennis Stanley, number two.

Two women recently arrested with stolen jewelry, cellphones and prescription drugs and whom police tied to at least eight to 10 burglaries in the area listed their address as the Church of the End Times/Driveway Corp. Ms. Bish and another woman reported they lived at the 19 Industrial Drive address.

A Driveways Corp. car parked on Murphy's Way had “I am #4” written in script on the side door.

Calgary Parents arrested for murdering six year old girl

Calgary is 67% Christian.

A Calgary couple has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of the man’s young daughter last November.

Spencer Jordan, 26, was arrested Sunday evening in a hotel room in south Calgary, while Marie Magoon, 22, was arrested in the downtown core, said Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus with the homicide unit.
Police were called to the couple’s home the evening of last Nov. 13 in the 6700 block of Temple Drive N.E. responding to reports of an injured girl.

Meika Dawn Jordan, 6, was taken to hospital and died the next day.
An autopsy completed on Nov. 16 determined she had died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma and the death was deemed a homicide.

At first, police were told Meika had fallen down stairs. But they later determined the blunt force injuries to her head and abdomen were not consistent with a fall down a flight of stairs.
Investigators also revealed Meika had also sustained a severe third-degree burn to her hand and palm, and some other undetermined injuries, prior to her death.
They have not revealed how the girl was hurt.

Police said the father and stepmother were the only ones who had “exclusive opportunity” to the little girl at the time of her injuries, and were considered suspects early on the investigation.
There were other children in Jordan’s and Magoon’s relationship, and they have been placed in “a safe environment,” Andrus said.

Investigators have spoken to Meika’s biological mother, who is “relieved” that the investigation has come to an end, he added.

Jordan and Magoon remain in police custody and are due to appear in court Tuesday.

Christian man in Ghana kills his pregnant wife

KOFI GYASI aka ‘Taller’ has been arrested by the police in connection with the brutal murder of his seven-month-old pregnant girlfriend Akosua Mansah, 32, which occurred at Pakyi Number One about two months ago.

Taller reportedly rushed to his church recently and informed the pastor that he was responsible for the killing of Mansah, asking the pastor to pray for him so that the nightmares he was having would stop.
Alarmed by Taller’s confession, the pastor, whose name was not immediately known, reportedly informed his church members who called the police to arrest the suspect.

The deceased, a resident of Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region, was found dead in an uncompleted building at Pakyi Number One on Saturday, July 21, 2012. Mansah’s throat had been slashed when her dead body was found by some workers working on the uncompleted building.

Taller reportedly started having nightmares after committing the heinous crime, forcing him to rush to the church for refuge, Samson K. Nyamekye of Hello FM disclosed to the paper.

The suspect, who could not sleep after allegedly committing the crime, reportedly told his pastor that he killed his pregnant girlfriend but he did not state what influenced him to do that.

Taller then asked that the church members pray for him so that the nightmare he was having, which started immediately he killed Mansah, would stop for him to enjoy life.

Mr. Nyamekeye, who had been following the case for the past two months, told DAILY GUIDE that the church members were shocked at Taller’s confession so they called the police to the church premises to arrest him.

The paper gathered that the police had since ferried the suspect to the Homicide Unit in Accra where he was being investigated.

Couple in Flordia arrested for creating child porn with four year old girl

Keep in mind Florida is 76% Christian.

NORTH FORT MYERS, Florida -- It started out with a cell phone found in a shopping cart, and ended with a couple arrested on charges that they engaged in sexual acts with a 4-year-old girl.

The phone was found in a Cape Coral Walmart earlier this month and turned over to law enforcement. An FBI Innocent Images Task Force agent found child pornography images on the cell phone.

A detective with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Sexual Predator Unit recognized the phone number as belonging to a man who is listed as a sexual offender.

That man, 33-year-old Alan Johnson, had been convicted on two federal child pornography charges in 2003, and sentenced to 70 months in prison. Johnson had pleaded guilty and didn't appeal his sentence.

A search warrant executed this week at the house Johnson shares with 37-year-old Jennifer Sparks helped detectives find evidence of the two producing child pornography on a cell phone camera, including images and videos of the two engaging in sex acts with a 4-year-old, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Upon contacting the Polk County Sheriff's Office, detectives were able to find the little girl and turn custody of her over to the Florida Department of Children and Families.
According to their Facebook pages, Johnson and Sparks run a website together that sells sex toys.

North Carolina Pastor arrested for sexually assaulting thirteen year old girl

NEWTON, N.C. -- The pastor of a Catawba County church arrested Monday and charged with indecent liberties with a minor appeared before a judge Wednesday morning.

Bradley Moss, 38, of Hickory, was charged after an investigation by Newton police and the Catawba County Department of Social Services. He is pastor of Victory Empowerment Church near Newton.

Family members of a 13-year-old member of Moss' church stepped forward after the young girl's mother said the pastor had sent the girl messages of a sexual nature.

Moss' family was in court Wednesday, and his bond was set at $100,000. He is due to appear in court again next month.

"I support him, I have to. He's my son," said Moss' father Wednesday. "You would do the same thing."

In search warrants police said they went to Moss' mother's house and confiscated his computer, cell phone, 38 DVDs and other items. Police also used search warrants to gain access to his Twitter and cell phone account with Sprint.

The pastor, a father of five, said he was never alone with the 13-year-old who he said is a friend of his daughter. In text messages to the teen he allegedly said, "Babe everything in me wants to be with you. I want you to be MINE."

The report states in another text he spoke of how the 13-year-old looked in lounge wear. The married father also spoke about them getting married.

"I'd want you to have my receiving my seed and carrying it and birthing him."

Both Moss and the girl said they did not have sex, but the girl said that Moss touched her breasts, legs and butt. She also told investigators that Moss kissed her on the lips.

He said that he never kissed the teen and only might have touched her when they were playing around wrestling.

In one text message the pastor allegedly texted the girl, "Notice my kissing didn't change."

Moss’ mother said Tuesday she feels her son is innocent.

"Because I've raised him and he comes and talks to me, we talk about everything and I do not believe that. I just don't believe that," said a visibly shaken Barbara Fair outside her house.

Megachurch in Oklahoma ignored the rapes of two teen girls

A 17,000-member megachurch has been rattled by allegations that five employees waited two weeks to report the rape of a 13-year-old girl in a campus stairwell.

The Tulsa police say the girl is among at least three victims of sex crimes committed by two former employees of the church, Victory Christian Center.

The police said this week that the worldwide ministry’s pastor and co-founder, Sharon Daugherty, whose daily broadcasts are heard in more than 200 countries, knew about the accusations, but trusted employees to follow policies on reporting such assaults.

A former church employee, Chris Denman, 20, was arrested Sept. 5 on charges of raping the 13-year-old before a church service on Aug. 13. He also is charged with molesting a 15-year-old girl between Aug. 13 and Aug. 17.
Another ex-employee, Israel Shalom Castillo, 23, was arrested Thursday and charged with making a lewd proposal to a child and using a computer to commit a sexual crime.

Prosecutors this week also charged five church employees, including Ms. Daugherty’s son and daughter-in-law, who are both youth pastors, with failing to report accusations of the assault between Aug. 15 and Aug. 30.
The church said staff members in the ministry’s youth department learned of the accusations and spent about a week looking into them before reporting them to supervisors and human resources. Once the complaint reached human resources, “that department did not follow its own reporting policy,” the ministry said.

Ugandan Pastor arrested for raping and threatening to kill seventeen year old girl

A pastor in Mukono district charged with defiling a 17-year-old school girl has been remanded to Luzira Prison.
Sebastian Mbuya of Delivering Power Centre International in Kitega village, Mukono municipality appeared before Mukono chief magistrate Mary Ikiti on Tuesday.
He was arrested by the Police on September 10, 2012 from Bamboo Guest House in Mukono town where he was allegedly having sex with the girl.
However, Mbuya who refers to himself as a prophet pleaded not guilty. He applied for bail but his surety Jimmy Mugambe, a resident of Kikooza village in Mukono central division failed to present substantive documents to court.
Mugambe presented an identity card which was issued in 2009 and showing him as a resident of Wantoni village in Mukono municipality.
The prosecutor Hussein Ntalo Nasuulu asked court to remand Mbuya as the investigations in the case continue.
Ikiti remanded Mbuya to Luzira prison until October 1, when he will re-appear in court for mention of the case.
In his statement at Mukono Police station, Mbuya said he had gone to visit the lodge following rumors that it was on sale and had interest in buying it.
He said that when he reached there, he waited for the owners but he could not see any and he decided to rest as he was by that time very tired.
Police detectives arrested Mbuya with a student at around mid-night in the lodge. The girl who had first said that she was 18 years, was taken to a Police surgeon in Kampala who proved that she was 17 years old.
The girl later changed her statement to say she was ordered to tell Police that she was 18 years yet in actual fact she was 17 years. She said Mbuya had threatened her with death if she resisted his sexual advances to her.

Nigerian Christian kills his young son and repeatedly stabs his wife over extra-marital affair

A washerman, Henry Nnamdi, has allegedly killed his one-year-old son, Chukwuebuka, in order to spite his wife, whom he accused of having an extra-marital affair.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Henry also used a hot pressing iron to burn his wife, Mercy, and stabbed her repeatedly in order to force her to confess to the allegation.
A police source said 40-year-old Henry had been suspecting that his wife was having an amorous relationship with his father for a while.
Our correspondent learnt that on Easter Sunday around 2am, Mercy turned down her husband’s request for sex resulting in an argument between the couple.
A reliable police source told PUNCH Metro, “Henry and his wife live together in a room with their only child at 3, Lambe Street, Ago Palace Way, Lagos.
“The suspect had been suspicious of his wife’s movement and on that very day, he came back home late in the evening and was ironing his customers’ clothes on the floor while his wife and son were on the bed.
“His wife and son were both naked because the room was poorly ventilated. Henry then told his wife he wanted to have sex with her but she refused.
“Henry was infuriated by her refusal and saw it as a confirmation of his suspicion. He grabbed the pressing iron and started inflicting burns all over Mercy’s body, including her private part, asking her to confess.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect immediately grabbed his son and fled. However, the corpse of his son was later found in the compound.
Our correspondent learnt that the landlord, Mr. Amao Lateef, immediately informed the Okota Police Division and Mercy was rushed to a nearby hospital where she has been receiving treatment.
According to sources at the Okota Police Division, the couple who have been married for two years, had a history of fighting and on four occasions, a police report had been filed by Mercy.
Henry, who spoke to our correspondent, said he did not intend to kill his son but only threw him on the ground.
He said he had caught his father on top of his wife twice and had only released his pent-up emotion on the day of the incident.
However, 36-year-old Mercy, who is at present writhing in pains at Evolution Hospital, Okota, denied having sexual relations with her father-in-law.
She said, “My husband had been quarrelling with his father and had banned me from going to see him but out of respect, I continued to get in contact with my father-in-law.
“My father-in-law had warned me not to stay with my husband because of his behaviour but I didn’t listen.”
A nurse at the hospital described Mercy’s case as critical as she was burnt in various parts of her body and was also stabbed.
The nurse, who did not wish to be named, said, “She was burnt on both breasts as well as her cervix and was stabbed in various parts of her body.
“She needs serious treatment or else she could have kidney problem. Presently, she has received treatment worth N200,000 but only N30,000 has been paid.
“It will be good if the government and members of the public could come to her aid.”
The spokesperson for the state police command, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, said the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
Jaiyeoba said, “On April 8, 2012, the suspect accused his wife of sleeping with his own father and in the process, inflicting wounds on his wife and slammed his son against the floor, killing him.
“The case has been transferred to the SCID and he will be charged with murder and attempted murder.”
