SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport pastor and his wife are dead in what the Caddo Parish Coroner is calling "an apparent murder-suicide." Dr. Todd Thoma says Willie Guiden and his wife Jane, both 60, were found shot to death inside their Southern Hills home Friday morning.
Police say their concerned relatives called police to report suspicious circumstances just after 10: a.m. when they were unable to reach anyone in the home by phone or by knocking on the door. After determining there had not been any forced entry into the home, police themselves forced their way in and discovered the bodies.
Jane Guiden was found in the hallway. Her husband lay dead in the living room at the end of the same hallway.
The coroner believes the couple died sometime Thursday night. Detectives are still working to piece together exactly what led to the shooting, but based on information and evidence gathered at the scene, they now believe Willie Guiden shot and killed his wife and then shot himself.
A handgun was recovered in the home.
Guiden was pastor of Unity in Prayer Ministry, B.C. on Line Avenue, which also runs a daycare. Across the street, Guiden's Seafood Restaurant. Today, the business stood empty.
