CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A local pastor and university professor is accused of soliciting an undercover officer for sex acts.
Pastor Clinton Feemster was arrested in west Charlotte last Friday and charged with crimes against nature. A police report says Feemster solicited sex from an undercover vice officer while “numerous families were present.”
Feemster was arrested at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport overlook on Old Dowd Road, which is a popular place for families to gather and watch planes take off.
Feemster teaches theology to both students and other ministers at Gardner Webb University and has been a pastor at Mount Zion Baptist Church for more than 20 years.
“We (are) all human and fall short,” church member Joann Whitesides said.
She said Feemster is still the pastor at the church.
A spokesman for Gardner Webb said Feemster has been placed on paid leave and said the university is “praying for him and his family during this time that is trying for them, as well.”
