The oppression of Women in Christianity

Well we know already a majority of the worlds christians are murders, stealers, gamblers, and alchoholics hence proving the holy spirit is guiding them, but of the many of the absurdities the bible has, the verses about women are quite disturbing.
Have a look at some OT verses:

Deuteronomy 22:28-30 "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He MUST MARRY THE GIRL, for he has violated her. He can NEVER DIVORCE her as long as he lives."

Before you christians go on and whine about this being the old testement, you all have to follow it as well.
"Do not think that I [Jesus] have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18)"

"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16

“Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law" (John7:19)

Jesus honoured and respected the OT. We see he makes consistent references to it as well throughout the NT. And furthermore, since many take Jesus and God, the OT were revealed by Jesus to Moses and the other prophets. We know there's severe contradictions between the 2 testements, and wonder why Jesus would do that (the christian one, not the Islamic Jesus where he is honoured, just like all the other prophets).
So here's a question to Christians- Which book leads to paradise: The NT or the Torah (Jewish book with is part of the OT)? Both faiths are quite different, but apparently were revealed by Jesus himself.

Many christians do say they need to follow the OT too, but dont because of the horrific verses.
Now that we have that cleared, lets move on:

1 Samuel 15:3
Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

See in Islam, a woman can't be harmed in ANY way. Muslim or Not.

Numbers 31:17-18 "Now kill all the boys [innocent kids]. And kill every woman who has slept with a man, but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man."

"If a man dies and leaves no son, turn his inheritance over to his daughter. (Numbers 27:8)"

Ouch. The NT doesn't mention inheritance at all.

"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." Deuteronomy 22:28

Ecclesiasticus 22:3 "....and the birth of any foolish daughter is a loss"
So if I have a clumsy sister is this a loss? And is having a disabled daughter also a loss? We can take some Christians off the hook, since this is a Catholic scripture.

We all know christian women love exposing their bodies. They want to be loved for what they look like. And they say a muslim woman covering up is opression?
Take Carrie Prejean as an example. She won America's Top Model and used the bible to defend her semi nude pictures. And what else? She got PRAISES from christian leaders for being such a "good christian".
A little later she used the bible to defend breast implants. Lets see how the bible supports these types of women:

Song of Songs 8:1-3 "If only you were to me like a brother, who was nursed at my mother's breasts! Then, if I found you outside, I would kiss you, and no one would despise me. I would lead you and bring you to my mother's house-- she who has taught me. I would give you spiced wine to drink [i.e., her vagina's semen!], the nectar of my pomegranates. His left arm is under my head and his right arm embraces me."

Song of Songs 7:12 Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom— there I will give you my love.

Song of Solomon 8:10 "Dear brothers, I'm a walled-in virgin still, but my breasts are full— And when my lover sees me, he knows he'll soon be satisfied."

Song of Songs 4:5 "Your two breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that browse among the lilies."

Song of Songs 1:13 "My lover is to me a sachet of myrrh resting between my breasts."

Song of Songs 7:1-4, 8-9 I said 'I will climb the palm tree; I will take hold of its fruit.' May your breasts be like the clusters of the vine, the fragrance of your breath like apples, and your mouth like the best wine.

Song of Solomon 4:5 Your two breasts are like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that browse among the lilies.

Jeremiah 49:4- How boastful you are about the valleys! O backsliding daughter who trusts in her treasures, {saying,} ' Who will come against me?' (Jeremiah 49:4)

This refers to anal sex and how a woman's backside is her "valley". And she offers herself to whoever comes to her. It is obvious the holy spirit in women uses these to make them objects.

The bible itself doesn't tell women to cover up. It doesn't say anything about not being an object. Neither the OT nor the NT.

Okay that's enough of the OT. Now the NT is the vulgar part.

Luke 19:27-But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me.'"

Matthew 10:34 - "I come not to bring peace, but to bring a sword"

Apparently the LRA and A of G justify their actions using this verse. The KKK use the "Curse of Ham" verses for their actions. And they slay women and children just as much as men. This contradicts the Quran teachings, as again women cannot be harmed. The same goes for children.
The LRA are no different than the KKK. They slay ANYONE even little girls.

Ephesians 5:24- Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit (i.e WORSHIP) to their husbands in everything.

Ephesians 5:22-Wives, submit to your husbands (i.e WORSHIP) as to the Lord.

And lets look at some commentary by John Wesley, one of the greatest christian scholors to ever live:

In the following directions concerning relative duties, the inferiors are all along placed before the superiors, because the general proposition is concerning submission; and inferiors ought to do their duty, whatever their superiors do. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands - Unless where God forbids. Otherwise, in all indifferent things, the will of the husband is a law to the wife. As unto the Lord - The obedience a wife pays to her husband is at the same time paid to Christ himself; he being head of the wife, as Christ is head of the church.
We clearly see a wife is inferior.

Colossians 3:18- Wives, submit (i.e WORSHIP) to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
These verse's tells us women are second class. First comes the Lord, then comes Man, then comes women, and the woman needs to be obediant/submissive to the one with authority over her.
And thise verse further proves women come second after men:

1 Corinthians 11:3 "Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God."

So I guess God is the head of God?

1 Corinthians 11:7 A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man."

1 Peter 3:6- Just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.

This verse above CLEARLY proves my point.

1 Timothy 2:12- I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.
Notice the authority part? We're clearly seeing inferiority of women.

1 Corinthians 7:1 - "Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry.
Yeah just in case his wife doesn't worship him. But at the same time, Paul said the evil ones are those who don't allow people to marry (this is a continuation from verses 1-2)

1 Timothy 4:3- They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.

And strangley, Paul wrote the cursed are the ones who tell people not to marry.

1 Corinthians 7:1- Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman

Titus 2:3-5- The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands,
to love their children, [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient (hupotasso) to their own
husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Again we see women being picked on. They need to be sober, the need to be obedient, and they need to stay at home. The stay at home part fits perfectly, since women cannot have authority over man, and cannot teach man either.

1 Timothy 2:11- A woman should learn in quietness and full submission.
And here's the following verse (2:12)
I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.

Most bible commentators divert you from the actual teachings of the bible, but John Wesley does a great job. Read his notes, and moreover he speaks of women in these verses as a part of SOCIETY. It's not limited to marriage.

Romans 7:2-3- For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress.

Below I'll link to a person who speaks of domestic violence in the US. Please read myth #8 on how women are afraid to divorce. So eith way she's gonna go through hell.

1 Corinthians 7:39- A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord

The last few words in this verse mean the wife's new husband must be a christian. But read how she's "bound to he husband as long as he lives"

Matthew 5:32- But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Some christians say Ephesians 5:25-28 tell a man has to love his wife and treat their bodies like their own. True, but these verses that tell a woman is inferior to men, that she has to see the husband as a "second lord", the "treat their bodies like your own" has to mean the woman's body is a posession to men.

Here we see Jesus talking about honour killings. Rebelious abd disobedient children must be put to death.

How about domestic violence? Here's the stats from:

Battering on women is the most under reported crime in America.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States; more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. "Violence Against Women, A Majority Staff Report," Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, 102nd Congress, October 1992, p.3.

Three to four million women in the United States are beaten in their homes each year by their husbands, ex-husbands, or male lovers. "Women and Violence," Hearings before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, August 29 and December 11, 1990, Senate Hearing 101-939, pt. 1, p. 12.

One woman is beaten by her husband or partner every 15 seconds in the United States. Uniform Crime Reports, Federal Bureau of Investigation, 1991.

About 1 out of 4 women are likely to be abused by a partner in her lifetime. Sara Glazer, "Violence, Against Women" CO Researcher, Congressional Quarterly, Inc., Volume 3, Number 8, February, 1993, p. 171.

Approximately 95% of the victims of domestic violence are women. Statistics, National Clearinghouse for the Defense of Battered Women, Ruth Peachey, M.D. 1988.

Police report that between 40% and 60% of the calls they receive, especially on the night shift, are domestic violence disputes. Carrillo, Roxann "Violence Against Women: An Obstacle to Development," Human Development Report, 1990.

Battering occurs among people of all races, ages, socio-economic classes, religious affiliations, occupations, and educational backgrounds.

Fifty percent of all homeless women and children in this country are fleeing domestic violence. Senator Joseph Biden, U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, Violence Against Women: Victims of the System, 1991.

A battering incident is rarely an isolated event.

Battering tends to increase and become more violent over time.

Many batterers learned violent behavior growing up in an abusive family.

25% - 45% of all women who are battered are battered during pregnancy.

Domestic violence does not end immediately with separation. Over 70% of the women injured in domestic violence cases are injured after separation.

Domestic violence is not only physical and sexual violence but also psychological. Psychological violence means intense and repetitive degradation, creating isolation, and controlling the actions or behaviors of the spouse through intimidation or manipulation to the detriment of the individual. "Five Year State Master Plan for the Prevention of and Service for Domestic Violence." Utah State Department of Human Services, January 1994.

Myths of domestic violence:

FACT: National studies estimate that 3 to 4 million women are beaten each year in our country. A study conducted in 1995 found that 31% of women surveyed admitted to having been physically assaulted by a husband or boyfriend. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in our country, and the FBI estimates that a woman is beaten every 15 seconds. Thirty percent of female homicide victims are killed by partners or ex-partners and 1,500 women are murdered as a result of domestic violence each year in the United States.

FACT: Studies of domestic violence consistently have found that battering occurs among all types of families, regardless of income, profession, region, ethnicity, educational level or race. However, the fact that lower income victims and abusers are over-represented in calls to police, battered women's shelters and social services may be due to a lack of other resources.

Notice he didn't say religion?

FACT: A well-publicized study conducted by Dr. Murray Strauss at the University of New Hampshire found that women use violent means to resolve conflict in relationships as often as men. However, the study also concluded that when the context and consequences of an assault are measured, the majority of victims are women. The U.S. Department of Justice has found that 95% of the victims of spouse abuse are female. Men can be victims, but it is rare.

FACT: Although there is a high correlation between alcohol, or other substance abuse, and battering, it is not a causal relationship. Batterers use drinking as one of many excuses for their violence and as a way to place the responsibility for their violence elsewhere. Stopping the abusers' drinking will not stop the violence. Both battering and substance abuse need to be addressed separately, as overlapping yet independent problems.

FACT: Battering is a pattern of coercion and control that one person exerts over another. Battering is not just one physical attack. It includes the repeated use of a number of tactics, including intimidation, threats, economic deprivation, isolation and psychological and sexual abuse. Physical violence is just one of these tactics. The various forms of abuse utilized by batterers help to maintain power and control over their spouses and partners.

Fact: Studies have found that men who batter their wives also abuse their children in 70% of cases. Even when children are not directly abused, they suffer as a result of witnessing one parent assault another. Batterers often display an increased interest in their children at the time of separation, as a means of maintaining contact with, and thus control over, their partners.

FACT: Only the batterer has the ability to stop the violence. Battering is a behavioral choice for which the batterer must be held accountable. Many battered women make numerous attempts to change their behavior in the hope that this will stop the abuse. This does not work. Changes in family members' behavior will not cause the batterer to be non-violent.

FACT: Victim provocation is no more common in domestic violence than in any other crime. Battered women often make repeated attempts to leave violent relationships, but are prevented from doing so by increased violence and control tactics on the part of the abuser. Other factors which inhibit a victim's ability to leave include economic dependence, few viable options for housing and support, unhelpful responses from the criminal justice system or other agencies, social isolation, cultural or religious constraints, a commitment to the abuser and the relationship and fear of further violence. It has been estimated that the danger to a victim increases by 70% when she attempts to leave, as the abuser escalates his use of violence when he begins to lose control.

FACT: While our society derives from a patriarchal legal system that afforded men the right to physically chastise their wives and children, we do not live under such a system now. Women and children are no longer considered the property of men, and domestic violence is a crime in every state In the country.

But this contradicts the bible. Women are posession of men.

Thats it for now. Just so you remember, those books in the OT were the first laws revealed by Jesus to Moses, so it's quite unreal that Jesus would reveal a new set of books that contradict his first revelations, correct?

I'll leave you all with 2 verses from God,
Quran: Surah 4:135- O ye who believe! stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for God can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest ye swerve, and if ye distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily God is well- acquainted with all that ye do.

2:79- "Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say: "This is from God," to traffic with it for miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby.
